yo folks,
i'll be in berlin from sept 5th to sept 9th.
anyone of you fancy stylers got some club/gig/whatever-advice for me?
i'll be playing a gig at the schokoladen (http://www.schokoladen-mitte.de) on the 6th.
i'll play songs by my band liger (http://www.myspace.com/postfolk) in stripped down versions, just guitar and vocals.
or maybe i'll just play joy division covers. we'll see...
anyhooooo, would be nice if some of you guys would come to see me play.

i'm staying at the schokoladen. either at the backstage room (which is a really comfortable office actually) or at one of the staff's appartment.
i'm only playing the gig as some kind of reward for their hospitality.
there will be 2 other bands playing. i'm the opening act. i think i'm not even listed on the website. top secret! ;)

i found out that i'll be pretty busy anyway.
i'll meet the guys from my german booking agency, then some artists from my label (beatismurder) who are in berlin at the same time, and most of all i need to recover from recently breaking up with my girlfriend.
i hope i'll find some time to party though ;)

berghain/panoramabar is a must! its like a scene from blade or something.... pure industrial filth and techno to die for. very 'darksided' ;)
doesn't really get going till 3-5am apparently....we arrived at 3.30 and had to que for an hour and a half.
bar25 is located right next to the river...lots of people seemed to be heading there after berghain (as we did). its basically a big shed with lots of sofas inside, a dancefloor and with a big outdoor decked area, tree swings over the river, a fire to sit around ... great techno again when i was there. that place usually opens on a thursday and runs non-stop until monday!!
south east kreuzberg near neuköln....just north of the river on glogauer straße is a bar know as 'pingpong bar'. its a little run down bar with a great friendly atmosphere and a ping pong table in the middle .... you get a paddle from the bar and play what is sometimes called 'around the world' (you dont have to obviously) where you take a shot and move on....if you miss...you are out. i met loads of people here. nice mix of music and cheap beer....shuts whenever the bar staff feel like going home.
there is another bar (which i cannot remember the name of...its in kreuzberg though) where you can get your hair cut at the bar (for cheap) :P that palce was really chilled and friendly....nice music again. soul, funk, old hip hop and a bit of indie-ish stuff when i was there but apparently it isnt always like that.
if you get drunk and fancy some kareoke.... i know i know i know.... i didnt think it would be good (and really protested against going at first) but i seriously had one of the best times EVER there. there are these little perspex boothes that fit about 10 people, with different stuff going on in each one....there is mixer and 2 mics and LOTS of music to choose from. a main dance floor/bar too. dunno the name but a local will. (NEVER thought id suggest doing kareoke)
im sure you'll have fun no matter where you go.
the only place i went that i thought was shit was 'matrix' - AVOID!
