so, my friend is going to hamburg on friday for work. when he's done w/his job he's gonna use some vacation days and go to munich for oktoberfest then to berlin.
any advice on things he should or shouldn't miss? he's traveled extensively and always has a crazy story to tell about some random thing he happened upon that turned into the best night out ever etc etc... but if anyone has the 411 on something chawesome happening in berlin in the next few weeks please let me know and i'll pass it on to him.

any time anyone mentions going to berlin i have to say: my brother runs a magazine called New Berlin- its in english and is full of useful info about whats on and where to go- you should be able to find it in bars/cafes etc- he also does free tours which are good

About Hamburg:
Every last friday each month there is experimental concert in Hörbar club in Hamburg I founded with some others around 1992, we had the great Big City Orchestra recently there and this is the next:

They even have a bar each wednesday but I am not involved anymore so I am seldom there.
There is a union which claims to support the local experimental scene but so far I failed to see how, but at least they got a online calender:
