this is funny. you know how sometimes your mp3 compression gets kinda screwy and plays a little fast? van halen's sound guy doesn't. eddie tried to transpose a little bit in but it still sounded like ass.

as awful as that was, they had no other choice than just wing it through. They look to be pretty awesome on stage though, and it seems that david lee roth has brushed up on his singing skillz  Looking at the other tour videos, they seem to be pretty rocking.

yeah, David Lee Roth sang great. Really great. Pitch perfect, and definitely having lots of fun. What could have happened with the guitar? It's like the whole thing was pitched down a half step. But certainly the guitarist must have heard that! Lesson to all guitarists, always have a backup guitar ready in the wings for accidents like this...

2 competing theories on this one. either the guitar tech handed the wrong guitar to eddie or the sound tech had the dat set wrong for the pre-recorded synth parts.

I'm betting that this was in fact a misplayed file. Van Halen is competent enough to step a song this simple up or down as needed. The problem might have been compounded by being totally stoned, and not having the monitor levels they needed.
The guitar parts in this are SOOO simple, the interval things were off does not sound like a normal one. Everybody is having a rough time- both guitarists, the singer, etc. When you've done a song as many times as they have and still screw up, I'm guessing this was an extra special weird problem.
