Heya, I set myself the project to make a tune/groove/jam per day for the next year, so far it's been a week, and the results are pretty encouraging. At the least, even the stuff coming out is shit, you always learn something new, and I really needed the push to keep focused on music for at least a few hours each day. I'm blogging each song on my blog at link
After the last year which I spent mostly on doing dancey ditty tunes, I think I need to get back to more dsp/artsy oriented stuff. At least I've learnt some things about flow this year, but when I listen to my earlier stuff I'm like "ohhh so much different sounds/atmospheres going on", and I was really exploring possibilities instead of going "bassdrum here, snare here, pulse pwm bass here, some chords, voila".

i went through such a "one song a day" project some years ago.
i made 11 tunes and then i gave up.
but it was an amazgin experience. the songs turned out to be really good.
mang, i need to finally release them somewhere.

I'll make a recap moment after song number 30 I decided, until then I'll really put some effort into pulling it through. I had two days now where I was kind of "meh I worked all day, I had school and practice, I won't bother with a song", then I pulled myself together and it was pretty worthwhile, even if was fucking worn out at 3am.

i remember that my project had some restrictions:
i only used Buzz for the tracks. nothing else was allowed. but that made it even easier for me to be creative.

for stfu glasgow 05 i left myself 1 day to make my set- i didnt get any songs done but i did make 128 sounds which i just repeated in loops instead of writing proper tunes
it was a really crazy experience trying desperately to get all the sounds programmed (no sleep- programming automatically, almost unconsciously)
im currently in the process of writing some proper patterns for these sounds which i hope to play out soon

nice. I am looking forward to listening to this daswesen.
I did an album a month thing: link
kinda not the same scope, because I only had to finish a minute of music a day. I am pretty happy with how it came out though.

How do you manage to do this? I work all day and when I get home I'm tired and can't pull up the enthusiasm to even switch things on.

Great idea! Personaly, like Trash80 did (he called the 'weeklies') a track/song a week seems more in tune to the speed I work at

I'm part of a short-fiction writing group where each writer publishes a story per week. I like it because being forced to have that kind of output forces me to abandon the preciousness with which I usually approach creative endeavors. I've been thinking a website that posted a song/week from different artists would be successful.

I did this for a month once, when my significant other was out of the country. It was a good experience and I learned alot. I don't remember if any of the songs turned out that great though. Once a day seems better to me than once a week, because if you do it once a week, I'd just end up procrastinating until the end of the week....
I have a new job that I don't have to go into until 1pm. This is great, because I wake up early and work on music THEN, rather than AFTER work, when I am exhausted.
