at least you remember.

maybe those memories will help guide you next time.

I never back up and I know I should but just keep crossing fingers.

Does crossing fingers help?

cross your ballbag

My mate had three hard drives go down in the space of a fortnight - even with multiple drives and a sane attitude to backing up files - shit happens.

in ONE fortnight?!?!?! thats a bloody hell shame

will do tonight

Sorry to hear it, that sucks
How many em411 users have data loss each year? i guess... about 3.
If you can afford it you could sign up to some online backup service
Mozy backup costs $4.95/month per computer. That's pretty good i reckon. I'm currently demoing the free version which seems to work well.

Don't you feel cleansed now?
All those old musical sketches that that remained unfinished and burdened your creative process?

Dataloss is the new born-again.

ugh. i didn't really enjoy this blog, cause it gives me the fear.

yeah, I just did a backup recently. Gotta get back into dailies/weeklies, but I always think to myself, "oh, I have not done anything important".

for the mac link

im getting scared now
maybe i should save my mmt8 data (its crashed before)
but i want to wait until ive finished all my patterns.....

This is why I keep a 1 gig SD card plugged in at all times. Any new material gets dropped onto it before I finish for the day.
It's not my backup system....just a simple piece of insurance that is lazy-proof. A temporary home for new data, if you will.....

And I sleep peacefully.

this thread prompted me to upgrade to the paid version of mozy. My main music computer is uploading all its thoughts just now.. (only another 3 days and it'll have finished!). opulentaudio: yes, 'lazy proof' is the key for me.

i would sugest one of those network base system that has 4 hard disk that work in a raid this way if one hard disk fail you just replace the hard disk and all the data is back up on all the other hard disk it cost a little bit more but its realy worth it the only way you can realy loose the data is if all the hard disk fail at the same time
