--> Hi there folks,

after a long stint of eating instant ramen, i'll be heading off to japan for the real deal around nov-dec for about 15 days. The last time round, i spent most of the time in tokyo, but now it's all over the islands. Hurrah!

During that time, all i managed to catch was a local jazz bar, the blue note, a kabuki play, and a seedy gas panic bar. So anyone with an idea of where to go for the more electronic and crazy events, i'd really appreciate it.

I remember almost all my time in Tokyo was spent trying to find places in those damn unmarked roads. Never did find the spot we were looking for, walked around all evening.
My tip, ifyou get a tip, get good directions.

Finding stuff in Kyoto and Hiroshima was much easier, but not as much going on.

oh what were you looking for? I remember trying to look for this art gallery that was on the map, and eventually ending kilometres off.

Some music venues, forget the names. Ended up finding another nice place in the end though.

That place boggles me... you can clearly see things on the map, and think you know exactly where you are but end up being so far off.

paging skab...

hey hey!

Take me in your suitcase please !

You knew someone was going to say it ..

Thanks for the links skab. The only event listings i've found with my google fu were a little sad.

mc, yeah i'm afraid human transportation in a suitcase would require either a hacksaw or a wood chipper ..... i've asked that of others as well ....... damn you physical limits!

Looks like the klaxons are in town.

For Tokyo, check link just a few events listed everyday but good ones, and a quite exhaustive list of venues with good explanations (in english!) for finding the place. VERY useful! Check Superdeluxe, Womb, Unit or Shibuya O-Nest.

In Kyoto, Metro Club is great. Check also Cafe La Siesta, it's a very small cafe for chiptune lovers.

In Osaka, Sunsui is a good, Quattro, Rockets and Bridge too.

These venues usually schedule good electronic live music.

If you like experimental music, check link

Hey thanks, those a great links.

Yeah i was looking forward to some experimental music. i caught a performance by tetsu saitoh a few months back, and from the looks of the listings, he really does perform quite a bit.
