i bought some tickets to see aphex twin at the warehouse project in manchester in august. i got rung up yesterday. they oversold by 300 on the collect tickets. so my two got cancelled. i sent them quite a strong email yesterday (it had the words f**k, tard and coke addled in it) and they apologised and offered me some backstage passes for soulwax. no thanks!
i explained i do gigs and am booked and can't rearrange, but i had bought some tickets on ebay for aphex when i found out mine had been cancelled.
she then told me that the ebay tickets might be fakes, as there had been reports of holographic tickets being forged and sold on ebay, or ones that have been cancelled. but i can email her the numbers so she can check they are ok.
she also told me how to check for a fake ticket namely if it turns black when burnt with a lighter!
anyway just to say that its put a downer on me. but i am determined to go no matter what. sod the touts and the ticket scammers. | |

so to check the tickets you burn them with a lighter, but i'm guessing burnt, blackened stubs of paper won't be accepted by the doorman. catch-22.

i'm curious about his live set too - anyone here seen him play? does he just dj now? i love to hear a great dj, and i imagine aphex is right up there, but i don't think i'd put up with all those headaches. good luck man - break down the door!

He's not that old and he's not down and out.... but I still feel his golden era was 94-95.

now now psyingo, you know as well as we do we all have a lot to owe to him. and i will go out on a limb (or is it?) and say he's a pretty great intuitive composer. his sense of melody is solid, and even though he says he poops his tracks out, you can hear a studied dedication there. i still like him. even tho i don't listen to him much anymore. like the beatles i guess - i heard both them thousands of times, so you know. i try to hear new things too.
