--> Hi,

I'm planning to shoot a zero budget short around some parts of Portland as soon as late winter, but probably next spring. I'd like to keep this a fairly "tribal" production so I thought I'd start by asking a couple questions here:
* Anyone here an actor or have recommendations? The film has two leads, speaking parts. I need two males, one in mid twenties, the other a bit older, thirties or forties.
* Anyone possess or have access to equipment I can rent / borrow? I'm keeping this ridiculously cheap, but I will need to add some things to the toolbox:

* UHF Wireless Lav mics / transmitters / receivers (can't afford to buy them myself yet)
* Portable lighting kits
* Camera carriers / steadiers; my camera is tiny and it'll have a very viddy look to it if I don't get it into a rig that can control its movement. Tripods won't suffice.

I'm likely going to need some production help. I figure I'll direct and operate the camera, and have folks to handle sound, but will probably need some grip and transpo help.

The script is still nascent, and I haven't started on a production schedule so I can't say anything about the length of the shoot, but thought I'd get the word out that I'm starting work on this.

Steadicam DIY: link

Hi,
I have a Lectrosonics lav you can use...aaaaannnnddddd I'm a Steadicam op. So....

OMG Roshi that is a rad find! I'm totally going to do this--hell I might just buy the kit from him, it's not too expensive...

timmo, we need to meet. Februaryish lets get together (before then I'm sorta home-bound).

I'm not a portlander, I'm a seattler. But I'm also an actor.

(i've wanted to try that steadicam DIY for a while! have you tried it ted?)

mix - cool, if you're interested I will send you the screenplay once it's healthy.

Definitely ordering that diy steadicam, so I'll report back on it soon.

I haven't tried it yet, joey, but it looks good...and I've heard of some good success stories with it.

Dudes, I am sooo excited about this. Making movies, no matter how small the scale, is what I should be doing, so I can't wait! :-)

contact me when you get the details ironed out/ closer to shooting. we can rent you whatever equipment you need.

no steady-cam though, but we have gone macguyver with whatever is around for nice tracking shots in the past.

this is sounding pretty cool.

it will be posted here when its done?

Highdropod - awesome! Where do you work?

Celibacy - yup, it'll be posted, no doubt.

Oh hey, I have all of those things.
If you reply to this blog in the next few hours, I'll give them to you.
