I actually have enough money to buy an 88 key controller..
this is the one I see that suits my budget and my need(88keys semi weighted)
link
I have been working on a 23 key oxygen for almost 2 years now and Only use it because I refuse to go to any of the nearby studios I used to frequent due to my overall disgust with the local scene..
since I have decided to only use my own equipment(nothing but a comp)
it has been difficult to actually be a REAL musician(no playing of teh musix other than my guitar and plinky dinky melodys).
But I guarantee that when I decide on an 88 key controller and it is sitting in my house , it will be on like link

i remember when i switched to a bigger keyboard. it made me very happy.
good luck and shop around - xmas sales everywhere. my semi-weighted keys lasted two years.
And I beat the crap out of that board. mileage varies. the conductive rubber paint only lasts so long...

-1 for maudio, ive had two kb controllers from them (radium 61 and keystation 49) and the velocity response was awful. theres good synth action and bad synth action, from my experience maudio is squarely in the bad category

really? If anyone has any suggestions about alternate brands before I buy I would love to hear suggestions, I need a really nice velocity response.
Studio electronics looks good as well.
i have never purchased strictly a controller, I have always owned synths so im clueless.
which controllers would foster a proportional velocity curve?

Fatar is probably discontinuing one of their 88 keys controllers (vmk88+), cause they are having huge sales right now.
If you're in europe check this out : link
210euros shipped, aftertouch, 8 pots + 8 buttons (with 2 banks), 9 sliders (3 banks), transport controls (that can be mapped to CC, cool for ableton users).
I received mine today, and i'm SUPER happy with it, i must say i'd have mixed feelings if i had paid the original list price (something like 550euros), cause there's no modwheel, no velocity curves, and the aftertouch seems so so.
But at that price it's a STEAL, the keyboard feels great, the keys are not too heavy nor too springy, and it seems really quite sturdy eventhough it's plastic.
I'm sounding like a salesmen, but i'm psyched, that's really my best purchase this year (hopefully my soon to be delivered jd-990 will be even better).

the Keystation 88es is inexpensive, but, they aren't that great. that entire line from M-Audio feels really flimsy and the 88pro has the worst weighted feel of any keyboard i've touched. their Axioms feel a lot more solid than their other controllers, but, they don't make that model with 88 keys..
for a nice 88 key controller i second Fatar/Studio Logic. they make solid gear. i don't have any hands on experience with this model but right now their TMK-88 is selling for $199 (same price as the Keystation88es) if you're in the states. i know a couple people that have bought their higher end models and they're very happy with them.
btw, i actually am a salesman, though i find myself often talking people out of buying gear...

the TMK-88 seems really nice for its worth. I have used fatars in the past and have hated that their keys become slightly loose in bias from left to right across the key after a few years but I also do understand the m-audio claim of shoddyness.
decisions decisions. Thanks guys for the input, ill probably end up going with FATAR i think.
once my bank shows me the money, its on. like teh KONG!

I do not know about all controllers that have a good (selectable) vel curve.
I will say this, there are a lot more controllers that are a lot better and sometimes (a lot) cheaper han the m-audio ones.
(I just fancied saying it 3 times, but for the same money, you have a lot of options)
I dont know how shipping and exchange rates works out, but novation is my top brand.
E-mu makes a nice 88key controller, as well.
Then theres the yamaha np-30, and the casio privia px-110.
All nice action keybeds.
