I found Fruity Loops 1, the very first version that came out in 1998. And it is all free.
I was so excited about trying it out untill I read that it cant be run on Win XP. Very disappointing, ill just throw it on my win95 computer and play with it there sometime.

Here it is. Enjoy.

yeah i sometimes hear that people actually use fruity loops still

sweet

i use fruity along with ableton, forge, audiomulch and all sorts of other programs. i think it's ridiculous that people give others shit for using fruity and act like stuck up ableton mac scenesters who are too good for it...it's a pretty nifty program if ya ask me if you know how to use it right.

ya tools do things.

a means to an end.

i like fl because its fast and flexible. its not made to be all fancy looking or sexy, it just does stuff, and does it conveniently. it has some areas that are lacking, but it is well priced. they dont have the balls to ask 500$ like the amazing "deal" logic studio. its easily worth 2x 150 or so the pro version costs.. and free upgrades.. wtf! WTF. compaired to subscription services like ableton, macs, .... it just makes so much more sense. if it was the same price as everything else id see some of the criticism, but its not.

now if they would only add crash recovery. one thing i really miss vs ableton.

its too bad this v1 doesnt run on xp, id love it if there was a win 95/98 emulator... yeah i know, virtual pc. yeah..

seems one could almost make a flash version of this and put it online.

not even in 95 compatibility mode?

old school!!!

I <3 FL Studio. Coming from the old school MIDI world, where we used Cubase and MasterTracks Pro and such on an Atari for MIDI sequencing, then moving on to PC based stuff like Cakewalk, etc. -- Fruity is very easy to use, lots of features, and most people who bag on it never spent the time to figure out how it does things -- I've been using it since about version 2.5 or something, and I still learn new things about it all the time.

modplug is,
was,
and always will be free

nope. seems it needs some specific old driver or something.

Who ever makes fun of FL is an idiot. There is no wrong or right way to make music and you can make anything sound good with any program. I can use a really old tracker and make a popular track and someone can use the newest version of ableton and come up with complete shit. It's all good.

I myself like FL alot.

can't feel too bad for the old mullethead. he sure had his day in the sun, even if it was an achy breaky one.

There is no wrong or right way to make music ---fivesteppath

i totally agree with this
billy ray wasn't making music any "wrong way", he was making bad music the right way.
a $5000 korg is quite capable of making bad music too. a $50 guitar is capable of making good music.
btw, i love FL, its a great toy

(btw, fruity loops rules imho)
