--> In lieu of working a day job, I have been catering parties as a means to support my music habit. Last night I catered a party in Palm Springs (a solid 2 hours from LA) in what seemed to be a very wealthy suburb for retirees. The holiday meant that we would get paid double time, but what holiday catering is all about are massive tips to hold you over through January. At last check, the hosts from the night before did not tip us, although I received a different sort of well-wishing when I returned to my car: a smashed rear window with a bag stolen. I lost the Christmas gift I received from my girlfriend, my tennis shoes and jeans. Fortunately, all recording gear was safely stowed at home. The host of the party came outside to walk her dog and nearly turned a blind eye to what had happened until I approached her. This was no ghetto by any means so my first assumption was that bored rich kids were out causing trouble (it turns out someone else had a punctured tire earlier) or some transient mining affluent neighborhoods for Santa's undelivered stash. Either way, it pissed me off but didn't get the best of me entirely until the gay cop on the scene rounded out our encounter with an innuendo.

I decided to hit the Indian reservation to blow five bucks on poker slots. Of course only came out smelling like second-hand smoke with a trash can liner flapping over the square of shattered glass as I drove home.

For dose of levity I decided to make a skin for the newly updated energy XT2. For all those who fancy what I believe is a great WIP, download this skin!

I think I know that casino. Right off the side of the freeway, right?

in los angeles, santa claus is a meth addict who steals your things!

that blows man. the holidays seems to bring out the worst in people, but you seem to have at least kept a positive mental attitude.

good to find humor at times like this
thanks for your concern and happy holidays to all!

sux that you got broken into!

i had one friend get a truck stolen out of a mall parking lot and gutted. i had another friend who went out to her car after hanging out with a friend for four hours or so-the car was parked around the corner, with the seats missing. we could never figure that one out except that it was definitely a professional crew. i know other people like you who got their cars broken into by junkies who left expensive stereos and just took the change in the ashtray. crazy town:/

Last year, follwing christmas of all things, my cousin's grandfather was murdered out in Palm Springs. Horrible. There are some really f'ed up people. Srsly.

the holidays don't bring out the worst, the obsessive nature of it does.

clawback I really admire your take on the whole thing

@ astroid

i saw a film, maybe on youtube or google video, that showed how professional car thieves work. being that they are professional they know how to start cars without keys, even the magnetic keys, because everything in most new cars is electronic, on manual transmissions there are codes that can be entered using the stick shift that will start the car. they will call customer service or the car dealer and simply request the code, stating that it was an emergency. most people don't even know that it's possible to start their cars without their keys in an emergency. the show was crazy. anyway...

Man hope things work out well for you.
