Seconded. On the micro and macro levels.

2007: Finally figured out the whole live thing. Wrote a lot of music I need to finish and make some sort of project out of.
2008: Playing a live debut (and hopefully more afterwards), starting a collaboration, writing more music. Hopefully a release or two of some sort.

got over being a ball of nerves when playing.
found a local group of folks who really support each other's musical efforts.
sorted my setup finally.
learned to embrace mistakes.

purchase a desk because everything is on the floor.

2007 - laziness that led to a new perspective .. I need to change
2008 - get new job, record a lot more, .. play more shows out of town. Lose some weight .. take better care of my health.
2007: learnt alot about music, got really lazy, had some deep insights in decembre
2008: finish uni, make a "commercial" EP, meditate more

djugel: Fuck, sounds like you got some kind of rude awakening during the last year. Better now?

2007 - Sucked beyond belief (broke up/got back together with gf of 7 years, parents getting divorced, cat/best friend developed cancer, was semi-unemployed and lazy, started smoking again, the World is on the brink of collapse, etc, etc).

2008 - Get a decent job, get into grad school, start taking music seriously, start DJing more, stop smoking...

2007 my old laptop died but I got promoted = less time for music.
2008 all upgraded and inspired by new technology

there's still 2 days to go....

moduLR, how did you get over the nerves? I still hav'em!

2007:
got sick of waiting for the creative opportunities you assume will be placed in your lap when signing with a label. Most of the year was spent just dealing with the frustration and disappointment... and waiting... stupidly. But thankfully, I'm over it now and the last quarter has seen a lot of creativity. OH! also gained way too much weight, like 40 pounds!

2008:
I'm so close to losing the fear of performing, but still take no pleasure in it! I mean... maybe by the last two songs it's fun, but before that it hardly seems worth the stress!!! So for me, 2008 is going to be about staying true creatively, working hard and cultivating something in the way of a performance that is FUN! (Any tips???) and of course trimming down a bit!

oh, so what I have learned... you have to be your own creative engine. Stuff just doesn't get placed in your lap! And that kind of work is usually not as fun as stuff you instigate for yourself, or at least for me it's not!
