Thom Yorke in a recent interview on the Internet release of Rainbows:

thom said: "In terms of digital income, we've made more money out of this record than out of all the other Radiohead albums put together, forever — in terms of anything on the Net. And that's nuts. It's partly due to the fact that EMI wasn't giving us any money for digital sales. All the contracts signed in a certain era have none of that stuff."

sorry, that was rude.
i was at the mall the other day and had to repress the urge to tear the fake beard off the santa claus, too.
then, some random dude with a fine baritone serenaded the food court with a rendition of "love is a many splendored thing".
an allegory? AN ALLEGORY? THIS IS SPARTA!

which is why i think that this 'new distribution method' is a bunch of fluff. since when has selling records based on your existing popularity ever been... different?

At least he was honest instead of acting like they reinvented the wheel or something...
In the same issue there's a great breakdown of the state of the "industry" and the options available to artists by David Byrne. It was a lot more interesting as a read... link

He was probably worried that Byrne was going to ask for royalties for their use of the name Radiohead.
