..or are you happy to see me.
Anyway, always on the search in reducing the size and weight of the live equipment because I dont have a car nor driver license, I follow the latest development of ultra portable and yet affordable Linux devices which could be used for music performance. The smallest one I ever used so far was a Zaurus PDA with my band Konform but we just fired some backing tracks on a small live appearance, no live synthesis.
Cool seems to be the Asus EEE laptop which is incredible cheap. It even started to sell here in Germany although Asus wanted to be Apple and orchestrate a national salesstart at 24. The specs are low but not that low, graphics are accelerated with build in Intel 900 chip so some 3D is possible, at least Tuxracer runs.

Other possibility are portable gaming devices. Two come in mind, the GP2X
which recently got an update with touchscreen, bringin it closer to Nintedo DS.

Today I learned about a new one called Pandora which is about to be released in March. Its distinct from GP2X with the inclusion of a keyboard and OpenGL hardware acceleration.

While EEE has a usual VGA output, both gaming devices can be connected to a TV thus to a videoprojector too so you can make pretty lofi realtime visuals.

be warned that gp2xs have a crappy battery life (depending on the clock speed its running at). i used to own a gp2x but got rid of it. build quiality isnt that hot either.
i dont expect the pandora to keep a charge for very long either, seeing as its dual-core processor is going to be running at a clock speed of 600 mhz (around 3 times what the gp2x runs at)
