--> it's time.

after 8 monthes of travelling around Australia, it's time for me to come back to france.

so here I am: writing this blog while I'm waiting in an hostel in Sydney for my shuttle to the airport, a bit scared by the 24h flight that will drop me fucked up in Paris tomorrow.

although I'm definitely HAPPY about that travel, the idea of coming back to france really makes me sad.

before leaving in australia, i was struggling all the time to get just as much money to pay my rent (and my beers), deejaying in shitty places (but sometimes in good ones) and doing the odd jobs...

here in australia i got to work as a pianist ( !! crazy isn't it ?) , as a labourer, a gardener, and as a roadie in melbourne.

the last roadie job was totally awesome: physical but with totally cool workmates, well paid, and in a 'family like' company of crew hire service.

it was great, easy going, and it was in melbourne which is a totally awesome place for music and art.

so... sadly now i run back to france and will struggle again, but everything will change, as long as I'm not afraid anymore of trying ANYTHING that I wanna do.

everything is possible, that's what i feel now and the australian people and their lifestyle learnt me that. They give you the chance, they don't judge people, they accept your different (and strange sometimes) behaviour, and working in OZ is totally refreshing when you come from europe.

anyway, one of the first thing that i'll do back home is applying for a permanent resident visa to come back for good in Oz, 'cause france (and our shitty president) has nothing appealing anymore for me.

anyway, there's always the STFU and altough all those negative points, i'm happy to find back my Studio monitors, buy a new sound card and start again to deejay ( but with my brother, who just started to dj) and make the people bouncing.

about the jobs, i definitely want to work in the entertainment and staging industry as a rigger or a basic 'monkey', but i know it will be a hard and long experience here in france.

a new life is just in front of me !

cheers for those who have read that blog !

THank you for this very very inspiring blog. Of course, the question is, why must you return? Is it a work visa situation?

yes it's a matter of visa.

bummer...

but I have a friend who has been living in NYC and he still doesn't have citizenship... he just keeps applying for a working visa...

in fact i COULD stay 4 more monthes, but i would have to leave anyway, so i decided to get off to france, and get a real working visa before coming back.

i'm on a working holiday visa, which is like a good box of candies: it's so good... but when it's finished, IT'S FINISHED !

i'm sure coming back to france won't be like hell though...

No it will be, but at least the current president has a hot lady :0)

Seriously though you seem to write in English very well and i assume you can speak and write in French. I think you should be able to find a nieche somewhere in the world be it France or Aus or wherever.

Getting a visa is pretty easy, but it's costly - like a few grand. Also it's better to get a licensed agent to do the hard work because if you make a mistake on the application they won't process it or even tell you, you'll just get rejected. If you have some skills in something it's much easier too. Good luck

great read. good to hear you enjoyed your days there.

have a good flight.

thehydrax > i've got some plans for the visas, like some support (not sponsorship though) from my employers here, who were more than happy with me.

a skills visa seems to be the best solution, and it gets easier if you accept to work during a few years in some remote areas of Oz (and god knows you have a lot of them )

anyway, we'll see. I'm not afraid of the future, and yeah that goddamn president found a hot lady ! eh eh

but i'm talking and talking... and i have to jump in my plane ! bye bye oz !
Glad you enjoyed it here, good luck with the visa!

nice one matt. sounds like you had a blast. i agree on the shitty europe attitude. i have been told many times that i would be better in oz.
you get yourself set up and ill come over to sound engineer in a years time.

glad to read your trip was well worth it!

well, it wont be so bad so go back home. try to bring back the aus attitude you learned and to spread some symphaty around in marseille!

wish your comeback is merrier than you think, cheers
Recent blogs: first blog!

man, i just missed you, i left Paris on Sunday!

If you are flying to CDG/Roissypole then take a photo of the "Zone Tampon" for me if you can see it. I meant to take a photo for my humour collection.

See you at an stfu soon?

oh mark, i was in paris last week!
lematt, glad and sad to hear you're back. we should definitely meet!

Damn! I was there from Thursday till Sunday, i didn't think to ask if anyone from here would've been around.

Oz sux! Its summer and my computer keeps over heating!! I walk around at night with the alarm in my head. Sometimes I wish I was living in Iceland and not woed by the beachy happy sun. Actually I just said farewells to a friend going back to France sounds pretty cool.
