I'll tell you one thing... don't overcompress! On my recent vinyl release Sad Song gets very very close to distorting. This might work on iTunes, but definitely not on a record. I'm for pressing very lightly compressed versions to vinyl! Who's with me?

decent article on pressing vinyl link

rainbo always treated me right

rainbo looks about the best with the package deals......
anyone think I can do better than 1000 VINYL 12" PACKAGE - $1,889.00

for short short runs

erika was good to me

also, this guy did a nice job mastering. he used to work at RCA and when they closed he bought their lathe and set up shop for him self. so he never stopped mastering vinyl.

oops. didn't see you posted that already. anyway- i brought him a CD w/unmastered tracks on it and he took it from there straight to a record and even cut us dubplates so we could listen when we got home.

thanks alot guys!

erika is good. i forgot about them. i made a 10" thru them and it was super thick and cost less than bill smith or united

iggy, i'm glad that you had a good experience with richard simpson. i had written him off because totally screwed me on an LP back in the 90's. he mastered this album by a band that i was putting out... when we got the test pressings back it had a high pitched squeal over both sides. he was so deaf that he couldn't even hear it. i had to go back there in person and pull a guy off the street (waiting at the bus stop right outside his little room) and have him listen to it and tell him that there was indeed a high pitched noise throughout the record for him to believe me.
maybe he got some hearing aids?
