--> Hello peoplz, the small USB MIDI 2x2 Boards I used for my micromodular hack are available (I soldered 5, can do more). You can order them for 50 EUR piece (I know it's a bit expensive but it takes me a fucking long time to solder them and test them sadly :/).

You can use them to:
-> put inside a micromodular or nord modular and not having 10000 midi cables lying around
-> put inside any synth that has midi actually, so that the synth has USB
-> bug me for custom filter features so that it filters MIDI, like form port to the other, or from USB to port 1, or whatever
-> if you really bug me I may give you a way to expand the software on it for you to build your own filters.

I will try to make the flash ROM updateable over MIDI, not sure if that will work, hopefully it will so that I can send updates with more features or whatever.

Also, if you're willing to do the soldering and stuff, I could send you the PCB, the atmel, the USB controller, the Quartz and the optocopplers (you'd have to the resistors and capacitors yourself) for 30 EUR. And a firmware image of course.

Cheers, Manuel

Also also, on one of the ports I can do TURBOMIDI (for Monomachine or Machinedrum).

sounds nice, what atmel do you use?
i am more interested in your attempts to load a new firmware via midi than the actual board itself. i was think about a similar thing. to alter settings of my midi board via midi. do you plan to use sysex?

yeah sysex I guess. -> load new firmwawre via sysex, reset board (flashing), reset again -> new firmware. The thing is... I hav eto store the new firmware somewhere in between cycles, and I forgot to put a bigger eeprom on the board, so I'm not too sure about this one really. I don't think I can fit the USB stack in a bootstrap loader (but maybe I can).

ok, so that will be different to what i'd like to do: just programming it via midi.

Hmmm what do you mean programming? You mean uploading a firmware, right?

I know it's a bit expensive but it takes me a fucking long time to solder them and test them sadly :/

Oh stop whining ffs! ;)

check your emmail d00d!

yes, yes, uploading firmware, but i don't want to hijack your blog with my own problems...

in what case is that different then? cause i'm doing it over USB?
ahm... äh... i just read that bootloaders only work for atmega and i am using an attiny. so no uploading firmware for me at the moment. but maybe i should switch to atmega.

btw: are you planning to release schematic and code?

this is awesome. i'd love to turn my doepfer pocket dial into a usb controller.

jp: schematic is a no brainer, and nope sorry no code, it's a commercial project of mine :/ I really would like to, but it's one of my sources of income.

can this work in a midi controller like nanocontrol`?

VC: yeah, definitely
