--> In 'The John Cage Autograph' RGB (Red, Green and Blue) values of the image (showing Cage's autograph) are converted to chromatic scale sounds. The RGB values of pixels are read from the top left to the bottom right of the image. One pixel makes a harmony of three notes of RGB value, and the lenght of note is determined by brightness of the pixel.

very interesting, thanks for sharing.

neat. i have to say it always irks me though when I see computer controlled, algorithmic, or generative midi pieces like this that seem to stop at the generation of the midi data. this synth piano voice sounds better then some, but really - wouldn't it have been more interesting to compose the timbre of the instrument as well? synth acoustic piano isn't really the blank canvas I think this guy thinks it is. the midi notes this process comes up with do sound nice - ends up being very musical, which is why I think it's frustrating for me to hear it with this hokey synth voice. ;-)

i like the 'white space' the best I think, those last few seconds with subtle changes to the high texture is my favorite moment.

i think it should be attempted as a live performance

sometimes the means just doesn't justify the end...
