phew: its lovely that blogs are back on em411 :D admin: any chance of per-user blog RSS feeds? that would add some nice interconnectivity ness, make the blogs feel less like islands over here. (also: Can we do any formatting codes in these here nextgeneration blogs?)

Relatedly: imagining that there were Rss feeds from em411 blogs, i'm wondering if i could synchronise an external typo based blog with my em411 one..(same posts, but appearing on a different site, the copying/mirroring process being automated somehow) dunno enough about the rss protocol i think. Webdev folks: Has anyone done that kind of thing before?

Headphones
i'm looking for super opinionated recommendations for studio headphones.. the kind of advice that's so convincingly delivered that i feel assured enough to skip the trip to hassletown to try them out myself. Oh-so-inconvenient REALLIFE; i find physically moving around very disruptive for my mouseclicking efficiecy.

My sennheiser hd580 'PRECISION' (lol) pair have bit the chokey mouthful of dust. These days there's a sad crackle in the left ear whenever there's any bass in the place: i think i mashed them at stfu weimar, had them turned up far too loud to hear what i was doing above the roar of the main speakers.

To steer clear of accidental membrane tearing from this day on I bought a pair of direct sound 'EXTEME ISOLATION' (lol) headm'phones for future gig duties.

Cube Ass
With a responsible adult supervising, i have began faffing around in cubase. I really like it so far. Several things i always wished for in Live (destructive pitch envelopes, easy crossfading, timestretch by dragging clip edges) are making my heart pull a goofy cross-eyed smile while i clumbsily bounce around this roccoco GUI.

Album
At the end of this month i expect to know which label it'll be released through. Then i''ll be beginning the cover artwork with a friend of mine, and i'll start getting excited about the project again. I can't put my finger on the reason but I feel reluctant to begin writing tracks again until i know where/when the album will be released, can anyone sympathise?

I'm posting this because i have a mountain of important stuff i ought to be doing. but i feel driven to piss my name in the newly fallen blanket of snow that is em411v5. you know!

you have an "external typo based blog"?

jdg already has a typo based blog :D typo it's also the (unfortunate) name of a ruby on rails blog system.

im gonna typo all over your face.

also, logic is so pretty, so easy on my eyes. more so then the roccocubase or the mondrian live.

re: the Ablum - i felt like that when my album was sitting around semi-dormant at a label for over half a year. after the label went belly-up it's also taken me a while to get back into the gist of things.. at first I wanted to repackage the "old" album again, work some tracks over, throw some out etc. but now I'm at the point where I'll take 2 tracks from the old album and make the rest new from scratch from a fresh perspective.

about headphones.. I have AKG K721S - they're magnificient headphone in terms of audio quality. however, I can't use them for longer (an hour plus) listening sessions since they're really tiring because of that monstrously separated, all-enveloping sound reproduction. and the leather earpieces also sit pretty tight on my head to boot. still great headphones. with nifty features like mini-xlr cable to easily switch from spiral to straight cableage!

lol roccoco GUI
agree about logic it looks the bestes

oh yeah about headphones
i really like my beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO
they're very comfy (pretty large though) and have great isolation
regarding accuracy they tend to have a bit of a 'smile'-curve
you can get away with a LOT of bass (freq response 5 - 35,000 Hz)

fil: i cant find any mention of the K721S, a typo somewhere?

thomann have the AKG K271, the same?

cubase is best logic sucks apart from all the amazing plugins and the interface, and the garage band loops bit, and the time stretching and the environments, i could go on....
nice penis picture BTW

yeah, AKG K271 Studio, my bad.

I also really like the Beyerdynamic, we have them at the uni radiostudio. more comfy than the AKG, bass is punchier in the Beyerdynamics (but imho in the end more accurate on the AKG). anyway, listening on the Beyer's is a joy, too.

teh dopeness: i ordered the K271, thanks for the recommendations f and bodo.

I am totally Zen lately. I sell instead of buying. Makes me happy

bump. How are you liking Cubase? I recall that you spend a great deal of time on beats. Are you finding the editing as good or better than Live and/or Tracktion?
Recent blogs: How do you do it?

rr: lol sorry i didn't see your post! i couldn't get fast enough using cubase, fast enough (it was too frustrating) so i've stuck with live.
