--> Ok, so I ranted about upgrading to v6 just before 7 came out. Turns out it was a few months before. I contacted Ableton to see if they would help me out, but no luck there. I gave up and vowed not to buy until v8 came out, and made that pretty clear in a couple of forum posts on here somewhere...

Well, I'm a sucker and I bought it. lol

I read up on it, watched a couple of videos, temptation won.
All I know is that drum racks and auto slicing to drum racks has added so much to my enjoyment/inspiration. I have always tried different things to get the same results, like making duplicate clips, assigning to midi for triggering and setting up start end points...or making instrument racks with tons of simplers, which is basically what drum racks are but much more unorganized with the need of pitch modules and having to fumble through all of the chains to set things up just right. Something was missing, it didn't feel like a natural flow. Very uninspiring, especially when time is limited.

Drum racks are immediately drag-able with anything and I can auto slice, quickly set up multiple sounds to one pad/key, and set multiple "chokes" for any key (not just 7 and 8 like on impulse).

It was well worth the $120 to get it now imo.

Yeah...all that noise you made about not upgrading and then you do so at the drop of a hat, you whiney little bitch! ;-)

Mind you, I still have fun playing with that multi-tap delay you made.

I havent got into the drum racks yet - Ive been so distracted with shit that Ive been trying to finish older songs so havent played with newer features.

live7 (and 8's potential features) makes me miss windows a little

haha, yeah I know.

Cool! I'm glad you like DelayLab...version 2 is so much better, or maybe that's the one you have.

Drum racks was the big one for me, but then there are some smaller things that I didn't realize were there. Like being able to route external devices directly in a device chain as an insert, or external instruments directly as a "plugin". Also little things like text comments on everything and being able to collapse any device in the chain...which is great for complicated device chains that are mapped to macros, and don't need to show everything.

Where can I find said delaylab?

Right here: link

ok you just sold me on the upgrade. do you get commission?

yes, mention my name and I get version 8 for free ;)

64bit audio engine makes it worth it anyways. good on ya mate.
multi automation lanes... flocking finally!

live 7 is really quite nice. lots of great features, that come in quite handy.

ableton 7 is fuggin great.. still haven't updated but damn it's nice.

Also little things like text comments on everything...

clue me in! where is this feature?

Right click on title of track or on clips and "edit info text". The text will show up in bottom left info box if you use it.

I'm pretty sure that is new to 7, but maybe it was 6 and I just missed it.
