i'm wearing a cardigan sweater, pink undies, and a mustache.
i didn't know about channel 10. hmmm.
i got as far as reading the manual a couple of times and trying to drag my midi track into the "drum machine".
the only thing i could be missing (besides the obvious) is turning my midi track into a device. but i don't know how to do that.
maybe its the mustache. it is a bit scratchy.

when you scroll your cursor over the sequencer parts and hold down command or control it should give you all the possible options of routing in a small sub menu

you have a midi channel set to transmit to the cr8000? and audio from it setup to get back in (like an audio track with an external input selected)?
or are you saying you want the drum machine live instrument to send out midi to your outboard gear as well as trigger its samples?

If you hit the record enable button on the track you have the cr8ooo and then play the drum machine, does anything happen? That may be it.
Did you set the Ableton input and output on the track properly? Could be it too.

hi folks
i made a mistake with the moustache. the handlebars have been pointing down the entire time. in fact, the look i was after asks for handlebars up.
also, when i wrote "drum machine" I meant drum rack.
i actually do not want the audio of the cr8000 to go back into the drum rack.
what i'm looking for is simply to have my midi controller (trigger finger) be able to trigger the cr8000 on the first few rows, and then a few voices of drumatic on one row, and then some samples on the top row.
perhaps this is asking for too much.
perhaps i should start simple with a shirt and trousers, maybe a fin de siecle beachcomber look.

why did you pick LIVE? are you a rookie? LIVE is pretty much little kid software. you need to get logic if you want to be able to seemlessly intergrate your hardware with your software. or if you are just into getting that gear to trigger midi, i suggest MAXMSP.

oh man, atum, are you trying to make me angry? who are you calling a rookie? i'm turning green. my shirt is purple and all torn up.
i can't buy logic (still in os9, digital performer). maxmsp, sounds good, but i'm afraid of getting sucked in. already sucked into analog modulars.
perhaps you are right though. we will all be assimilated.

i not trying to make you angry lover. i just get confused when people use silly software, then want help with silly problems. even with the maxmsp demo you get plenty of tutorial-like example patches that will allow you to do simple things with midi. most people don't know that maxmsp was originally for midi.
i don't think youre a rookie, i didn't see any trax on your profile and assumed you were new.

Yeah, I hate Live too. I heard someone say that Logic is better once, and I believe it. Even though my music sounds like it was made with Live, I feel better knowing that it was made with real software, like Logic.

LOL. em411's favorite pseudo-intellectual strikes again.
i have had NO problem whatsoever integrating live with midi gear.
