--> ive uploaded my last live set (for bitjam ( link and link ) at the rigger 28th feb 08) to the player on my virb page link
i cant directly link to the file so its here as a blog instead of a release for now
it was recorded pretty quiet and ive boosted it as much as i could without clipping but it still sounds pretty quiet except for the peaks which are quite a lot louder than the average level but i didnt want to compress it or anything because i want it to be as close as possible to how it sounded live
there was a ton of bass coming out of the speakers at the rigger
its a bit of a mess as usual but i still enjoy hearing it
the bass (kawai k4r + 2 quadraverb gt's) was programmed the day before so it doesnt make sense and i wrote it without the drums so they dont relate together at all really
i was pressing the track mutes on my mmt8 to vary the synth patterns so its hit and miss
the effects are changing programs due to some of the audio going into the foot pedal sockets so they switch when they feel like it
the drums were programmed according to the system i explained on this page : link
stuff i carried on the train :
alesis sr16
alesis quadraverb gt x2
alesis mmt8
alesis 3630 x3
digitech studio quad v2
akai mb76
kawai k4r

I only like music where people plug an array of HR16s into a network and eventually it gains self-awareness to starts writing its own music.

but I'd d'load this and see.

i would have used a hr16 but the batteries are dead in both of mine and the buttons really dont work very well and because you cant go back a step in step mode it wouldve been very very difficult to program them effectively

listening to your live set right now. it's fucking jazz! i like it. it works for my brain.

i wonder if it would sound cool through some very extreme compression

if you go in and manual lower the level of the few high peaks then when you normalize it it will be way louder.

if i was to play the same set up live again i could bring another compressor (maybe if i had someone to help me carry it all)
i think the peaks happen when a loud sound on the synth coincides with a bit of quietness on the drums because the drums are sidechaining the compressor on the synth (so its not limiting its own peaks as such)
it was sent to the desk as 2 mono channels- 1 output of the compressor on the synth and 1 output of the main compressor on the drums- if those 2 signals were combined and sent through another compressor it would smooth out the peaks

that's pretty good sound !
love the beats

amazing! wish you had the beaty monster claw set recorded.

thats beaky!
its the same drums in this one but with kawai k4r doing the bass instead of danny webbox
