--> Hi all,

So I came back from Martha's Vineyard a few days ago having had another thoroughly magical trip. If the Island ain't gorgeous enough, the community is also very smart, creative and easy-going. Seriously, this place is like a little miracle. All the other visiting film makers I spoke with agreed, and were similarly... well, I guess bewitched is the right word, but that's because I'm a bit of a fancy-pants.

I wish I could move to Martha's Vineyard. I mean, in the summer it's like a different Island, so crammed with tourists, but off seasons it's amazing. And I always come back charged up with ideas.

Anyway, the audience reaction to Puss was much greater than to my video for The Turn, which I think might be just a bit abstract or something. Both went over well, but I could tell that Puss was much more enjoyed.

The live performance went well too. I was really nervous, but when it finally happened it was... hahah, it was strange. I was basically standing in front of the dj station in a medium sized room with couches and a lunch line. So folks didn't pay me much mind. That's cool. I was happy just to be able to give them my best, as I have a major crush on the whole lot of them. Still... watching the video I cringed. Not so much at the performance, but at how few payed attention.

I think I'm really learning more and more about just doing things for the pleasure of it, without any expectations. It goes so much better with this attitude, you know?

OK, so the last day was riddled with problems... during the shorts section the last four shorts somehow got erased and the audience was left in the dark waiting for like ten minutes, the projector stopped working for the last feature film and again the audience was left waiting, this time for like fifteen minutes, but NOBODY COMPLAINED! This is so shocking for a New Yorker. And quite refreshing. Not only that, but as soon as the show was done and the festival over the audience got up and helped to fold up and put away some 300 chairs!

Anyway, attached are some picts. I hope some of you come next year. It's really one wonder of a festival and an island.

Sounds like you had a grand time over there. It's great to meet all these like-minded people that seem to have patience and are obliged to help Even if the lunch-line performance seemed a bit weird.

That's the spirit! Nothing better than letting things go after all the rehearsals and run-throughs. Think, then enjoy so to say.

glad you had fun. looks like a really cool place. where is that place?

ot funny story: we were at a friend's place with manuel (daswesen) and i wanted to show him the website of a greek free-press newspaper that had an article on stfu. so i type the url ( link ) and to our surprise we see Fredo's face!: link

this probably is all greek to you but they only have good stuff to say

Fredo you're everywhere nowadays!! :D

I agree with you, Bodo. Signing with a label actually in some ways set me back a year because I had all these expectations that were for the most part totally false. I'm learning that, number one, it only happens if you make it happen, and number two, nothing is worth a salt if it's not enjoyed by the maker.

Thanks for that link, Delete. I got an email from a couple folks who do some Greek radio and sent them some music, so hopefully I'm getting a little radio play now too.

BTW, Martha's Vineyard is just off of Cape Cod and is part of Massachusetts.

no, atum. I don't actually.

i'm sure the show was awesome

i wish i could live directly by the ocean where i could hear it as i sleep and go get beat up by the waves when i feel too ambitious.

Sounds like a great show. Great pics too! The beach looks nice!

you don't what?

in one of the pics looked like you were doing the karate kid on those rocks

ha, that was my friend Jeremy and he was throwing a stone.

yeah fredo i was in a record shop in Hebden Bridge the other day.
thats in the middle of nowhere, in the north of england half way between
leeds and england. the old record guy is taking orders on the phone. suddenly he's says
"Fred oo Violin? whos that? Never heard of him!"
He takes the order anyway.
when i go to pay for me CDs (a nice comp of old anti-hitler blues songs)
I tell him its pronounced "Fredo Viola" and hes ace. He asks me how I know you and i shrug
and just say the internet.

coooooool. hahah, it's very encouraging getting news like that. Especially after getting a receipt from my label on sales of Silent Night and there were 14!

even with all the genres of electronic music, its still a small world.
