two years later + AtmoWorks

Wow, it's been nearly two years since I logged into em411... weird. I logged out of most forums and unsubbed from most lists. Work was crazy (still is) and I fell into a bit of musical hibernation. I just finally started putting my studio back together - and brought out a hernia moving furniture while doing it. Last week they said I was getting surgery - I meet with the surgeon to find out when/what/etc... So recording hasn't started up full swing just yet. I think it's been 4 years since I hit record... amazing to think of it that way.
Earlier this year I decided I'm recording again. I bought a Presonus Firestudio Project since my old pc died and I needed a new sound card for the newer one (well, not that new...). Then in the middle of February my old friend called up and said his partner at AtmoWorks was ready to step back and focus on his sound design work for Sony - the label was just one thing too many. So he asked me and another friend to join as his co-owners. We go back to high school days and have jammed for years off and on. It's a great mix of people. I'm really happy with the way things are working out.
If you're not familiar with AtmoWorks - it's been a primarily ambient / minimal techno / glitchyish label for the last 6-7 years - run by Vir Unis and James Johnson. We've decided to expand out of the ambient genre a bit as we move forward. I'm very busy working on a site revamp - the design is a few years old and it needs a new coat of paint and some functionality we don't have now.
I think the key thing is I'm thrilled to be back into music with both feet again, both as an artist and now able to help other artists release their music. Music is fun again. 
Most of you probably don't remember me - although I've been on em411 for many years (either as "interstitial" or "jkn"). My new artist name is "relaxed machinery". |
