Monome/mlr chops

--> A while ago I started building a sampling drum machine in max/msp. But i'm noticing that the thing i'd like to build looks a lot like the mlr patch (one of the patches that gets used with the monome, as in the vid below).

Since modulr linked to his lovely filmic video clips i got interested in the vimeo video site. It seems that there are a lot of creative types on there. Yesterday i looked up the monome/mlr stuff on there. This guys stuff stood out:

But those things are expensive! even building one of the kits would amount to more than 400 dollards (i think?).

(related thought: if the monome had 3 colour leds, you could write a patch that 'highlighted' the slices that corresponsed to rhythmic accepts with a diff colour (eg. snares and kicks))

yah those monomes are quite expensive. i can't see myself using that thing so much it justifies the money. but maybe i just should give it a try.

yeah and that would make it 6x as costly
