He Can Jog and I are planning a short tour from NYC to New Orleans, and would like to play a few shows in Philadelphia. However, we are completely ignorant of the PA scene, and need help finding possible venues to perform at. Our sets will probably lean to the more abstract/droney side. Anyone have any suggestions?

Help!
We've been booking mostly gallery type spaces so far, and it would be awesome to find an electronic music friendly gallery space or bookstore etc in PA. More than happy to hear about sweaty beer soaked clubs that would be friendly as well tho. ;) Thanks!

shit, I know there is this unitarian church that holds a LOT of shows, like nightly shows. I think Panda Bear played there, so droney stuff would be fine. Try the Starlight Ballroom, I'm not sure how to contact these people but I'll try to get the addresses.

OMG, I live 30minutes from Philly!!
Maybe check out The Khyber or The East End Cafe in Newark, DE. (big college town). You could probably get a write up in Spark, the funny social/nightlife/entertainment paper here in DE. Also, there are some great electronic musicians in the region, whom I think you'd enjoy, as well as may be able to suggest some other places.
Bill Fields is a local here in DE, plays out in Philly, and also has an account here on em411.

Awesome! Also gl0tch that is something that didn't even cross my mind but is brilliant and prolly essential - bugging the local rags for a blurb.
jack123 - let me know if you think of the name of the unitarian church! I'll try googling for it. I used to go to all sorts of fun left-field shows at the unitarian church in Madison growing up, would be awesome to be on the other side. ;-)
Thanks!

yeah, r5 is the booking/promo peeps for the philly area. They put on anything from xiuxiu to autechre. fwiw, they may be more responsive if you guys were touring with some other acts. I dunno.

the church is just called "first unitarian church". it's cool but very large.
i'd recommend johnny brenda's. it's a really cool space run by a bunch of musicians. tight little space with an incredibly gorgeous old stage and compact balcony. really pretty. also good food and beer.
