--> I got to have a bit of a play on one in PC world over the weekend! I have to say they are very cute and would be fun but I have quite thin fingers and I could not type one sentence without hitting a random key. The track pad seemed kind of tacky as well.

I do like the idea of running them with pd or supercollider patches as standalone machines run into a mix though!

can you install PD in them ?

lematt- the eeepc runs linux natively. you could install PD but i'm pretty sure you'd have to keep your work pretty minimal. the eee has horrible audio drivers.
i've heard good things about running milkytracker, though!

I am thinking of getting the 8.9 inch one in Hong Kong. They look neat indeed. Anyone know of good electronic shops in Hong Kong?

The HP mini note looks like it is slightly better quality for a little more.

Plus the keyboard is larger and it's got a HD rather than SSD

has anyone been able to get one of the 'low-level' usb soundcards (m-audio, behringer, etc..) to work on this?
Recent blogs: Need some opinions

Battery life sucks on them, so does screen rez. Other than that they rok.

There's the Eeeepc 900, which is higher specced than the 8GB versions if you're looking at those. It's amazing how there are so many other choices right now that are sprouting up. It's great!

otoh i'm running a samsung i780 with milkytracker on it. It can call out for pizza too. On screen size is a little shitty, but hey with the milkytracker being open source, maybe someone can create a better layout for mobiles.
