--> inspired by link and my top 90s hits, what are some of the records or artist to weren't to fond of at first but eventually grew up to like them, appreciate them, or even love them...

here's some of mine:

if you would have asked me a year ago what i though of Boards Of Canada, i would have said that i just don't get what the hype is all about and that their music is pretty generic. recently i've developed an appreciation for their production techniques and music in general. i'm not a huge fan still, but i've been able to go past my stereotypes and dig deeper into their sound.

i used to think Slayer was a silly band when i was a kid (although i used to pretend i liked them so i wouldn't get teased...). they fucking devastate now.

can't think of any others....

I mentioned Journey at the Hate Thread.

Also, Iron Maiden.

I'm sure there are many others that nostalgia has softened my stance on!

enter the cliche:

Autechre

Joanna Newsom, Jimmy Edgar, Gnarles Barkley, Interpol, Autechre, Neutral Milk Hotel, Goldfrapp, cLOUDDEAD, Isan, Herbert, and many many more!
Recent blogs: At the hands of giants.

Brahms

omg u must b joking, :P

Wendy Carlos. Seriously. When I was a teenager the first time I heard the Clockwork stuff I thought it was totally stupid. I was a very serious little thing.

Sun Ra's music took a while to grow on me.
I still have to be in the right mood, but when I am, it's perfect.
Elliott Sharp didnt immediately appeal to me.
I can listen to buck65 now more than I used to.

yeah i totally agree with Sun Ra. when i was young, I heard Sun Ra and I just thought "whatever." I was a very serious little thing too. Then later as a young adult I heard it, and I was totally hooked. Gil Scott Heron was the same way.

when i first got into techno ('94) i didnt like jungle/drum n bass
but now i can enjoy some of it (if its good)

in fact , going further back, i used to think all electronic techno music was shit
BUT NOW I KNOW!

Electronic Music.

i never really got into bad music.

but it's growing on me.

frank sinatra
the cure
the ramones
the sex pistols
