i like them. know some dude who has 2

i like the idea of them but i've never heard anything done on them that didn't sound like businessmen making 'world' music.

i like that a lot. sounds like some kind of inverted steal drum or kettle drum or something. i've been after one of these since i saw it in a drum shop in portland:

i think it'd make a nice addition to your hang drum.

I have played the MK1 and the MK2. They are inverted steel drums basicly. I really love the sound. Check out the sounic couture multi for kontakt, its a great kit featuring both editions.

For a real one, you'll need to buy a second hand, they are not made any more...

good luck

yeah, i met one guy who was playing wonderfully, and saw one guy in the streets of melbourne playing very well too.

it's an expensive thing (some of them up to 1200 € !), and if it spends too much time under the sun or in wet air it's fucked, but i do love the sound and the chords.

i partially agree with jarvis though, and i congratulate him for the "sound like businessmen making 'world' music", LOL !

the sound is really AFX Twinesque isn't it ?

i'm just wondering if it's not worth spending some time making a homemade vibraphone with piezos...

i think with something like this its all in the playing - the hands and different sounds you can get out of it.
i agree with the world music thing. but the possibilities with something like this are more than that i hope.

i would prefer to get my hands on one and sample it myself than buying a sample kit.
its the phrases that you get out of this thing that are gonna give you magic.

i'd give the soniccouture a chance quip, its really something. They are CPU heavy though, hence the fact one multi contains apr. 1300 samples!

btw you can check ou the hangdrum kit in a track i made: link
