Did you do some research already & do you have specific questions?

You need to distribute your own CD?

Play shows, sell them.

send one to

Alexander Weller
Talhofstrasse 22
89518 Heidenheim an der Brenz
Republica Germania

and sign it. i'll send you some $$$, srsly

and what about a shiny box of some sorts containing 25cds or something that you ask to put on desks in shops (and maybe bars and discos) for them to sell

or hit the local skatepark with your car, your music blasting out the speakers and cds in the trunk, connect with the guys and bettys, sell a few cds and make some friends/fans. wear a funky outfit

a lemonade stand in your frontyard with a trippy sign but except lemonade you sell your juicy and refreshing music. wear a funky outfit

and kick fvr in the butts to distribute your fucking music, it's your label after all

then the usual: liveshows, leno, letterman, autograph sessions at the local mall, interviews for magazines and weblogs, fotoshootings, a little scandal here and there to keep the gossip flowing, countless affairs with female celebrities and playboy centerfolds, excessive hedonism and extravagance, then drugs, decay, depth, murder, death. life hard, die young

put them in your closet for a few years until you forget about them. then one day you'll find them and be excited about it and give them away to anyone and everyone ;)

srsly.. if you are looking for traditional distribution then write a one sheet - 1 paragraph description w/o all kinds of flowery words. just be up front as to what the music sounds like. also include release date, wholesale price, label, tracklist. then send promo copies to distributors 8 weeks in advance of the actual release date. this is crucial since distributors want your record long enough in advance to presell it to record shops. something that is "already released" is useless to them in most cases.

check these places for more info on specifics for different distributors and keep all your fingers crossed that they'll listen to it and like it enough to want to distribute it. distributors get 100's of cd's every week.

oh, for digital check out tunecore and IODA.

what ignatius said.
plus maybe even get a promo aganecy, as lots of distributors also want to see, you do enough work, to get people to know your work, so they can more easily sell them to shops and stuf.
