Ok so i am gonna make a Octinct. Has anyone build one of these? It seems like a nice project, with the step by step arduino platform.

those are the sparkfun pads. are they out of stock again? they are kinda like the monome pads but WAY bigger.

Buttons and board are in stock, but the bevel is backordered. Presumably you could cut your own panel...

No, but I like the monome buttons/lights and was going to use them for a sequencer.

I'm following that project (following meaing reading the updates, not building anything) too. Although at the moment i'm not particularly interested in the rgb capabilities of the thing, more in the idea of a 'for-idiots' guide to DIYing a monome clone.

Indeed Cbit. my idea exactly. This monome costs way too much. I hope i can fix this thing for 150 euro's. (excl max msp) gonna make myselfe a nice casing etc. There is little tutorial-ish stuff on this and i will do just that. pictures, how to's, costs, up to the point of creating costum msp patches.

It would be really amazing if someone made a "smart" (as in being able to function standalone) monome clone with MIDI/CV out. Do all the app coding in something like arduino, and use the box as a "runtime". I think it's entirely possible and not too hard to pull off with this project.
I love the monome, but it shouldn't have to be tethered to a pc...

I wouldnt know what hardware to connect it to though. Only 0/1 here

what gets used between the arduino and audio software? i use the arduino with processing or vb.net for various custom applications. i wouldn't know how to build something into a midi controller without keeping an application running the whole time. i suppose i could do up a vb.net app to take signals from the arduino and use them to trigger midi via midi yoke.
or i could just keep using my badass cs-32.
cool project, though. looks fun.

You could really code any fuction that the monome or Tenori has (with the exception of sample playback). For example you could code a scaled down midi only version of 64step link

yes indeed, looks interesting. But i think i'll stick with an inviorment i allready know. I am not a instrumentalist and i think i'd be learning quite a while before i could intiutively controle ableton with it.
