--> Holy crap! Just got off the phone with one of the guys from Manchester's The Travelling Band - totally not EM, but not bad if you're into that old-timey folk rock thing - and hoo-lordy was he ever soft-spoken. Couldn't understand a bloody word, and I grew up with an Englishman (my dad) in the house.

I hope it's a special case for him and not indicitive of an area-wide plague of mumble ducks, otherwise you guys need a serious lesson in enunciation. Oh well.

On a side note, there was a horrible amount of hiss on the line, which just made matters worse. Any advice on cleaning up a trans-Atlantic phone recording? EQ dipping, perhaps?

noise reduction in your favorite program, like adobe audition or amadeus?

Sorry, the mumble filter has not yet been invented yet

I'm getting pretty decent results playing around with the Audio Restoration plug-in in Sound Forge. Still a mumbler, though.

mmmma aam mmmm m maamm mmmm mmmaa ummmm maa mehmeh

The new iZotope Restoration app is amazing, I highly recommend it. It might even have a soft-spoken mumble enunciator built in...but don't quote me on that.
