--> So I played a show with Hjalti and a bunch of other people on Sunday. It rocked.

Sadly, I don't have evidence, as my minidisc recorder recorded 80 minutes of silence during our sets. Oops. I either connected it to the mixer wrong (possible) or it's old and busted (likely).

But the show was great. Live visuals by Scobot, who's really good, and a really nice guy to boot. DJ sets by Greg Skidmore, Levitation Device, and Struggle. All excellent stuff, especially Skidmore, who had to open the show with a small crowd.

Hjalti's live set was great. I don't know how to describe his sound but....maybe industrial glitch? It's heavy sometimes. It's dark, but it's wistful. Does anyone remember Gridlock? Like that. There was head banging AND breakdancing, if that tells you anything.

When I went to start my set, there were technical difficulties. But I figured them out. I'm not sure if I played for the right amount of time, because I completely lost track as soon as I heard my basslines hit that PA. I've been listening to my set for months now, but hadn't physically FELT it until that night. It's really fucking fulfilling! For the record, the set I played was about 90% new material, plus reworked versions of two of my more recent songs that haven't been officially released ("Our Hope Is Limitless" and "Horses Never Know The Odds", both on my EMpage).

Afterwards, I got drunk. Really, really drunk. Now I'm gonna do it all again, hopefully soon. Since the show's been over, I haven't really known what to do with myself!

Hjalti is equivalent to Stephen in Iceland. I'm going to start a punk band called Stephen.

Not trying to snark, it's wonderful. Congrats on the show!

there is a band called travis
there is a band called brad
there is a band called bjork

Damn. That was a serious disaster aversion. I hate when that happens... and it usually happens at the inopportune moments. Congrats on the good show! Baltic Room == MegaBASS!

I would go see a punk band named Stephen. For the record.

I think we're trying to take the d.iscontent travelling roadshow down the West Coast this year, so Portland, SF, SoCal? Watch out. You might get a chance to watch me trouble shoot MIDI problems in the flesh!
