I sorta like it, a good alternative to blogging for lazy asses like me

I was going to post a 'why would you want to twitter' type post. But this blog does the job i think.

pros:

* Fleshes out internet friendships.
* I guess you have to try it to figure out why you'd like it (is that a 'pro'? i dunno).

cons:

* It seems like a solution looking for a problem (i don't wish that people could see what i was doing from minute to minute, and i'm not interested in the trivial detail of their lives either)
* One more internet habit to feed.

On the subject of updates:

I think the internet updates us on useless information way too much. I think the brain cannot handle so much updated information.

I think twitter is the start of the update overload. Also, unless it's used for something like liveblogging an event, updating people about your activities hourly seems pretty self-indulgent.

you can never have too much interweb

does it have avatars?

twitter's okay if you don't follow every random person you hardly know.

How much of web 2.0 exists because we have no life and need to know the sordid details of someone else's?

it seems the same as facebook kinda.
I like Twitter, and have been using it regularly for over a year. i though it was the stupidest, most narcissistic thing ever when I first heard about it, but it can be pretty useful. Especially the mobile interface via SMS.

It's better if you have friends on it (actual real life friends being the best option), and if you're judicious about who you follow (and to a lesser degree, who follows you). You can pretty effectively keep the signal to noise ratio high just by choosing whose updates you see.

yah, I am jonbro. It kinda reminds me of irc a bunch, especially when you are using the im interface. Altho that is currently down

blogs are the .plan files.
twitter/facebook is the irc with better graphics and more useless uses.
Recent blogs: Japan tokyo, kyoto, hokkaido

i like it when it's a project or a company or stuff. but then i follow a feed for like 2 days before i drop it

i love it.. but i only follow friends..

now following. you :-)
