anyone up for it? i think a nice public space, somewhere conducive to listening and being comfortable.. maybe one of the parks in the pearl district.. somewhere visible, and where folk might appreciate walking by and hearing lovely mellow sounds.

on a sunny day.

we can use the apotheke sound set, if i can wrangle it out of caleb's house for a day.

guess it would require a permit, which requires $$$.

hm.

thoughts?

Yes! Count me in, either as a listener, helper, or if I get the guts/skillz a performer? If you want that is...

i got woods.

you know, technically, everyday is an ambient outdoor event.......

pppbbbbthhhhhhAHAHA.
I'm sorry I couldn't help my self (man this sounds JUST like a summer day!)

sounds fun to me!

i'm in. i'll see how the Tonalim ambient outdoor event goes in LA and see if we can apply any of those principals to a portland event.

this sounds like it could be fun. please keep us updated on your plans/challenges w/doing something like this. i'm sure you could get some help from us folks if you need it. the ambient set i played at apotheke is one of my favorite performances. it was very relaxing and i'd love to do something like that again sooner or later.

maybe we should just take over an open part of an industrial area.

is that the beginning of a US STFU events serie ?

you know I'm always down for any ambient event!!!

any chance you guys are east coasters? This sounds like fun.

Sorry Bryan. PDXXXers

this sounds really awesome so far. i'd be totally down to play

Sounds rad! I've seen folks doing outdoor DJ sets on Mt. Tabor. I'll ask my permit friend what he knows about this stuff.... back to y'all in a bit.

ok, awesomeness.

(mike, i counted you in automatically, duh )

so, i _really_ want to do this somewhere that isn't isolated, or exclusive in any way. i think there is plenty of stuff in this town that is hard to find, under the radar, etc.. i would really like to do something where the general populace could be exposed to some truly beautiful electronic/electro-acoustic/whatever music, in a comfortable setting that doesnt involve consumption of any kind.

i like a couple of the parks in the pearl, namely um.. jamieson square (water park) and that newer one with the iron sculpture on one side. for some reason these resonate with my idea well, i think because they are not 'parks' per se, but are public spaces that people seem to use to connect or chill, and on a nice sunny day there is a fair amount of traffic.

there are some more spaces like this downtown, but they all seem somewhat lost amongst the taller office buildings, and do not have the casual traffic that i have seen in the pearl.

ne, se, n.. plenty of green spaces, and as marc said, industrial.. regarding the latter, perhaps that might make it more of a 'destination' event, where as i was hoping for a more causal, and casual intersection of music and people, not necc. requiring a commitment of any kind.

these are just my thoughts though, i would be down for pretty much anything. i guess i read about stuff like tonalism, and other events like it in other cities (not to mention art and music that is city sponsored ...) and yearn for opportunities like that. i think in PDX we have to DIY.

more thoughts?

sounds super fun!! count me in for playing or attending!

also, there's an experimental ambient show thing at the dunes on tuesday night with mori and pink window and maybe some other peeps. should be fun!
