--> Maybe it's a bit late in the game to be attempting to build muscle mass, but, damn it, I'm sick of having grover body and avoiding taking my shirt off in the presence of another human being! (Grover body is skinny all over but with massive mid section. NOT attractive!)

A couple years ago I had some digestion issues and went on an insane diet, losing 40 pounds. It didn't solve my problem, and hell, at 140 pounds I was way too skinny, so I began to eat sugar and fun things again. I felt better! My symptoms subsided. Hooray! A year later I had gained nearly 50 pounds and got as fat as I have ever been in my life, approaching 190 pounds.

So, I have begun to train. And basically feel like a piece of damp cardboard set in a snowy driveway which has been warn down repeatedly by the wheels of an SUV. IT HURTS!

I'm writing this blog to sort of make this more serious. Now I can't wimp out.

Note to bodo and jchot: make sure you get your child, when the time is right, to do some form of solid physical activity because it sucks to have to do this in your late thirties.

consistency! that's what it's all about. consistency! at least, that's what some st.quentin inmate with a hulk-like physique said on tv. consistency!

hahah, yeah, maybe I should just go to prison. No doubt I'd come out looking ripped. (probably in more ways than one.)

Please do your next vocal ensemble video with all those little panels of yourself while sitting on a Bowflex!

Not knowing what grover body was a few minutes ago, I was expecting it to have more to do with the fur. But yeah I have this same thing, generally thin but bloated midsection and droopy chin. Are you certain you're not moving too fast? Were you eating fast food before? Did you feel fatigued at most hours of the day before starting the exercise again?

No, actually I think I eat a pretty good diet, just way too much. Also, I nosh before bed, which isn't smart. I have carefully transitioned into it by first doing 3 weeks of biking, and losing 7 pounds! But, it's true, you can jump in too fast, and I tend to do that, which leads to quitting once you thoroughly make yourself sick. So thanks for the good advice.

clawback, that is a great idea. Hahah, actually maybe I will do one dancing with full Grover Glory for all to see. Sort of a Before cluster to be followed up in 6 months time with a sexy After in which I will be lit with a grey blue side light and wear fake sweat, glancing coyly at the camera.

make sure you stretch out before riding or whatever exercise you do....

One thing I find really helpful for me is to, for example, every time I get up from my computer to do X number of squats or pushups or whatever, then when I go to sit back down I do some other exercise. Of course this works better if you work at home or have a private office or something.

190lbs is your highest, eh? thanks for reminding me how much of a fat bitch I am.

has ricemutt read this yet?

dude, yeah. Hate the middle aged man gut, it is soooo hard to shake. In fact today, I've left my pants undone because they're too tight, they're only being held up by my belt. Not sexy.
