--> ever since I found out about this language, ive been enamored. I have made some headway as a total noobie (a couple of patches of really dope noise) but i am curious as to who is working with this language.

This is quite an exciting architecture. WHat do you guys think of it? has it crashed anyones comps? I crashed mine today. lol

write some monome stuff?

i guess youd need a monome.

I want to make fancy schmancy GUI's so I can fiddle with mah programz and turn mah knobs

maybe just get a monome?

sorry

i played around with ChucK a little bit when i had a monome. it seemed pretty cool, but it was just close enough to ruby to be really different and i do a lot of rubyonrails coding for work. i kept getting frustrated that it wasn't just ruby. or something graphical and pretty like max/msp.

that reminds me i need to see if there's any new interesting ruby audio or midi modules.

i've only played with the demos but it looks very promising. i haven't put much time into it though. i want to try and make some jungle music with it.

i teach chuck at university. but i don't use it for my own music that much.

oh great! do you know if there's too much of a drift in timing if you have too many shreds around? also i there's no real gui tool kit, but ge was saying some other person was working on a graphical version, have you seen it or tried that one out? because as it is, the live aspect of chuck is pretty limited short of live coding.

you've got kind of a GUI system with the miniaudicle (faders, buttons and LEDS)

lematt, jogn: the audicle is at least a real time compiler. I believe soon there will be a graphical interface gui where you can actually visualize your objects.

jogn: I havent noticed any timing glitches thus far. Ive been stacking shreds with machine.add() and the only wierd thing it does is it will sometimes compile certain chuck commands into some wierd netheruniverse where I have to shut down my computer to make the sound stop! lol! yaay beta!

also: did I miss the monome connection? is chuck monome architecture? Cant I use any old midi controller to interface with this? I have more homework to do...

Have you made anything that produces or recognises MIDI? I took a look at the website but didn't see much about midi. It would be neat to generate midi commands and let a synthesizer create the sounds.

yeah ppl write monome apps with chuck just like they do with max/msp.

also: ive heard of ppl working on a ruby library or whatever for monome.

wtf editing not working again..
