i am working on a new thing and i really want to use bells/gongs in them. i cant help it, i am a sucker for them. there is one tibet bell sample that i got from here probably 10 years ago and i still use it in almost everything i make. it is ultra sweet.
i am looking for samples of tuned gongs, bells, chimes, maybe even vibraphone, anything that sounds bell - gong - ish, and hopefully one tone at a time, i am not so interested in bell-trees or windchimes samples (not unless they are one-by-one )
are there any synths/softsynths/samples of such that makes good electronic-ish really simple sweet bell-ish sounds? i would be happy for pointers or samples in that direction as well.
ok guys. that was it for now. thanks.

I collected a few old hand bells from charity shops/thrift stores. Field recordings from local houses of worship are good sources - if you're lucky enough not to have to deal with the sound of traffic and/or chatting people.
I have tried some experimental bell-tone generators - whilst good they never totally recreate the complex overtones at work in a real instrument, time to go field recording maybe..?
There are some interesting chimes and vibraphone instruments available as 'soundfonts' - google for that maybe?

Roshi
there was a gamelan set that I found a while ago.
Let me see if I can dig it up.
Of course, the tuning is different - so you will have to adjust that in your sampler

so, bells and toys were finished already,
now I've putten gongs (part1) up there too
will conclude this session with, gongs (part 2) - slighty more lo-fi, and a nice celeste
the gamelan by soniccouture looks incredible too, but it's a bit overkill maybe
if you want to take the synth route, FM is of course the way to go, NI's FM8 is a great synth to make bells with
