--> So to celebrate the triple eights in style, we put on a night in Hachi, Shibuya last Friday. I did an improvsied set with my mate Peter Slade (who is much more famous than me coz he's in at least 3 bands - Legofriendly, Missing Man Foundation and Pfueti). He ran a set of controlled randomness from ableton and I jammed along with my MPC and DS.

It's the first time I've tried recording a whole live set through mics, and I like it. Certainly you realise just how much talking goes on while you play and you also get to hear all the dumb comments you made to your wingman during the set. The fact that we were palying on a soundsystem with comparable output to a gnat's fart didn't help matters much either, but hey, it was fun!

sounds nice.. what were you using on your ds? ds-10?

thanks infradead. yeah, i was using the ds10. i can commit the worst kind of fusionfunk atrocities without actually being able to play a single note thanks to that gate/note kaoss pad

nice.. i really liked the recording.. the ambient noise of the bar and people talking was cool..

pretty cool stuff!

Looking forward to the download finishing... It's getting close to a year since I visited Japan and I've been thinking about it a lot. I like to hear about clubs and events I'd go to if I was there... assuming they'd let a big gaijin like me in

thanks infra, dylan.

dylan - get yourself back here - we've got our soundsystem finished now.

kidko - if they let a big gaijin like me in, i'm sure you'll be fine

i second infradead, the live recording really adds to the atmosphere.. nice set man, liking the idea of the mpc and ds combo.
were u able to capture the ds in real time?

oh, i really miss being able to smoke and perform at the same time. damn f**king smoking ban!

couldn't sample the ds in realtime sadly, but peter did use the incredibly long delay times of his memoryman on it to get effect

yeah - ciggies and beats = good!
