i gots the first album and i like it. i havnt listened to it THAT much, but thats cos ive bought quite a lot of CDs recently.

are they hyped? ive not sen any hype, but i dont read music mags or anything anymore....they are bad for you.

They are getting all that XLR8R PR hype and bullshit. They suck. After I saw/heard about them I didn't feel cool about DFA asking for a demo anymore ... I felt ashamed.

why do you think they so shit?

i saw them at leeds festival and thought they were ok. but thats it.
like alot of bands these days.

I got the new one based on the single (And I Was A Boy From School) and I'm enjoying it...it's nothing groundbreaking or anything, but it's a fun album. Some really good songs, a few not so good.

I found Boy From School boring but I love their look.

When I saw a photo of them all stood behind their synthesizers I thought "Yes! This is a band I will like!" and I immediately started making music myself that I imagined they would sound like. When I did eventually hear them though, there was a canyon of biblical proportions seperating how I imagined them sounding and how they really DID sound. HOWEVER, I was left with some tunes which I could call my own that sounded like a band that I wanted to hear but that didn't actually exist! Anyone else ever experienced this phenomenon?

mp3 or stfu

Well, I'll give you this one

link

...but it's not really what I'm talking about. This was made on a computer but the good stuff is all analogue and it's too good imo to stick up (and it hasn't been mixed yet anyway).
i saw them on Jools Holland (uk tv program)
i wasnt that impressed to be honest.

Djugel, DFA asked you for a demo? You mean they contacted you? They initialized?

Did you send them one? What did they say?

u know.. bands come and go, and make songs along the way.. maybe release a record or two.
FYI.

I don't really care for them, a little too poppy for my taste.

they're playing in new york for free...all these hipsters here are so excited.

they sounded like the BetaBand or somthing .. zzzzzz...

I gave DFA a CD-R of ruff open mic demos. Not too formal. Heard nothing.

^^^heheh, true
