--> I'm tired of this. I'm getting no-where, not enough people care, I'm having too much trouble playing live, can't find the money to do a proper release. I'm tired of doing so much fiddley work. and I'm getting into one of those "uninspired" cycles.

so I quit. so there. no more electronic music (for a while anyways)
"easiest thing to do in the world, just quit"- Johnny rotten.

No, I'm not really "quiting", I'm not selling everything and buying fishing poles and booze. (besides, I only fish with a cain pole and crickets) I'm definitely not quitting music.
Ironically enough, I just got moved into my house and now I have an honest-to-god studio!

let me tell you about my latest musical project.........
I've dusted off my bass guitar, taken the low-string off, moved the rest of the strings down to where the high string was missing, and replaced it with a banjo string. then I tuned the thing to 5ths (E B C# F# I think?) I'm looking to procure these pedals : digitech whammy, boss super overdrive, and the boss oc-2 (octave pedal)

basically I'm copying brian gibson's (lightning bolt) setup. I'm gonna run all that through a 60 w keyboard amp and the biggest bass amp I can get my hands on. I'm also looking for a drummer.( I know quite a few, so this shouldn't be a huge problem)

Musically, I'm aiming for something between lightningbolt and death from above, but i'm pretty sure It will end up sounding like ween. (which is cool with me)

working with an alternate tuning is alot like learning to play again... it's exciting!

This is what happened to me.

Circumstances happened such that I got so tired of electro and techno.

I just find it more fun to play an instrument right now - it's just more direct, or something.

I've taken two separate four year breaks ('92 to '96 and '04 to now...) - you get burnt out sometimes - you do other stuff - you always come back. I'm back now. Slowly but surely getting my music going again - but jumped in with both feet co-owning a music label starting in March.

Also, I think I got tired of the conventions of the genres

I'm happiest when I'm my own genre

I mostly feel like this because the software will not cooperate and/or crashes. Getting overwhelmed comes easy for my petty brain too.
I guess it's all about drive. How determined are you? Do you lose sleep over not getting things done? You almost have to be mentally ill to do this kind of thing.

at least you can still play electro with an injured thumb ;)

i dont see how the two have to be mutually exclusive.
i make techno and acid, ambient and electro and play in bands.
it won't stop you doing one or the other. actually you enjoy making computer
music more when you play in bands, and visa versa.

try two at once even!

Let me just say.......

HELL YES!!!

Fuck the boring-ass electro music.

Can we at least see some pictures of the new studio?

it's so funny how so many people have a love hate relationship with em. just come out of the closet and except that you aren't a real musician.

pauses are good, other styles definitely are a good way to get some fresh air. even though my focus is on mainstream techno, i enjoy playing the bass in a jazz band a lot and it gives more focus or something.
