--> finally i am involved again with a project that won't involve computers. this is a relief as i have spent the last years of my life staring deeply into the glow. a breath of fresh air. it is a simple project. i believe it will be called 'tatse' in honor of the frequently mispelled taste. i thought about 'teh tatse god' but that seems a bit too long and god is a quenstioable word to involve in a band name, even if it is purposely misspelled. anyway the music is about as far from my current project: link
as i can get structurally. of late, i have been struggling with learning how to perfrom my solo work and in the process have realized that i need to break the boundaries i have laid out. the new project is just me and my lady friend playing an ARP Axxe/Little Brother, Roland HS-60 and a Moog Minimoog model D. maybe some stomp boxes if we feel like it. just improv. appreciating the amazing (sometimes forgotten by me)world of sound-design that is possible. Warmth is the word that comes to mind. i have gotten so stuck in using my computer to write these highly structured songs and writing lyrics and attempting to produce them properly and polish them. now i need to let go and remember how i got interested in elecronic music in the first place...real live analog synths. don't get me wrong. i love my computer, but there is something missing in it's numbers sometimes, or rather there is some need i have in my musical upbringing to have the tactile human sensations invloved with playing real instruments and touching real knobs and sliders.

Nice dude, are you using any sort of looping device?

no loops. maybe a delay pedal if i am feeling adventuresome. pretty much entirely straight. my favorite trick is tuning each of the oscillators to a different pitch/holding. i can get a six note chord with three osc. from the mini 2 from the ARPs combined and then one mono from the juno. i can then modulate them using some random pitch generation and then just some pitch/frequency knob tweaking/mod to create a very lush/rich ever-evolvong never repeating texture.

sounds good, i wish you luck.

i've been moving away from computers to hardware too, been wanting to do more live and also have a setup which is more jammable than a computer so i can do more collabs with people. i used to sit and program everything, writing music became a huge chore/time expense...now i just hit keys and pads and music is fun again.

Hmm I've been thinking about something like that myself. I'd love a hardware looper and take it from there....

awesome music!
i just added you on myshpaxx

oops - you misspelled "mispelled"

thanks, my spelling is pretty questionable when i am excited

Sounds interesting. What are you using to create the random pitch generation?
thanks for sending links.
i really like your music.
viva em411!

there is nothing quite like doing an improv set.. soooo much fun.. i wish i could do it more ..

moving away from computers is in the air it seems.
my favourite toys atm are guitar, filterboxes, and the 2880.
not looking at a screen is kind of inspiring after all the years ...

hmmmm
maybe i should start using a computer

@bla, i like your pix! check mine out: link
@DongleKong, the ARP Axxe has a random sample/hold circuit=random pitch generation.
i should say as well that the moogs pitches arent being randomly generated but i tune them slowly according to some of the pitch sets that come out of the arps. lots of moving back and forth between synths. pretty abstract.

yeah your pics are good!
i love doodley stuff
i like the titles too

i really like shut the mouth on your myspace. would like to hear this new project!!
