--> Hey, kids - it's the final week of Mixit 68... the submission deadline is Sunday night around 10pm PST.

If you're new to Mixits, here's the deal:

Week 1: Sample submissions and commenting on prior Mixit entries
Week 2-4: Download the latest samplepack, and make a track based solely on the samples provided.
* Samples can be stretched, sliced, run through effects, farted upon, reversed, and mangled - just make sure the source is always from the sample pack

Upload your Mixit before the deadline, and the submissions go live on the 1st of the month - then people download the entries, comment on the fabulous things they hear, and so on.

It's a great way to increase your sample library, find new avenues for making tunes, impress your friends, and more...

can't seem to upload?!

ahh! 31st and the site is down???

Believe me, I'm livid, especially after the hosting problems I went through a couple months ago -- this was supposed to be the 'solid' replacement hosting provider, then their database server goes nuts on Mixit Deadline Day. I even tried to create a new database and fresh phpbb installation, and it acts like I'm always providing invalid credentials. I switched from MySQL to PostGrep to see if that would make a difference, and it gives me "an error has occurred" in the same spot. on a holiday weekend when the support staff won't be back until Tuesday morning.

-- and I'm hoping they have a backup of everything up until it went belly-up, because the last time I updated the database was in July when I did the switch over, so we'd lose a mixit or two in the process were I to do a restore.

This is turning into quite the bitch session. There was a point yesterday that I figured "screw it, we'll just make a new one and everyone will have to re-register and start fresh..." - blah. Until I hear from them as to why their database server took a warm steamy poo -- it's all up in the air.

So far, one person's e-mailed me their submission ... mulletballet (at) g m a i l . c o m

I'll post a link to download submissions once I get a few more in.
