Is anyone interested in an informal 4-track collaboration.
my plan:
Get blank 90min tape, fill up one track. ie: 45mins worth of sounds.
send the tape to someone, that person fills up the second track
then 3rd person, then 4th person.
then the tape gets sent back to me so i can mix it down.
the first 4 people who respond are in.
maybe other groups of 4 could do their own.
anyone interested?
first of all i thought it work best as a free noise/drone piece, then i thought it would be more interesting, if i did several bits of tunes, which slowly get more complete once people have added their tracks.
for example
TAPE TRACK 1: drums keyboards barking farting singing banjo drums
TAPE TRACK 2: belching guitar conga clapping drone whistle synth
TAPE TRACK 3: synth chimes bells stomping beats beets beetz
TAPE TRACK 4 etc etc etc etc etc etc etc
all you need to enter is a 4-track that can play tapes at normal speed (like mine)
UPDATE: Otterfan has agreed to take part!
we just need another TWO people.

maybe if you get another 3 people who own Reel 2 Reels (that actually work) then you could do a rival project.

I don't have one either, but the first thing that came to my mind is what if the last guy records to the wrong track? Also you'd be doing everything mono, which means only one person gets to mixdown the stereo effects.

I own a 4-track, and I'd be really interested, but one month for 45min won't be enough time for me since I'm studying full-time. If it was about 10 to 15min, I'd be in for sure.

@RogRog: stereo is for nancies, and if the last guy records on the wrong track we'll kneecap him.
BTW, I'll ship my 4-track to anyone in the States as long as you promise to ship it back when your done.

hot damn! this is the attitude em411 needs more off.
dont worry, ill do tasteful job of panning etc.
goguru: the idea is that it will be a free flowing type thing. loose.
i reckon if the first two tracks are done by me and otterfan, you wouldn't have to worry about creating whole arrangements etc.
stick the tape in, add some noises.
