--> well after a whole lot of of time beating on my self for having a single core cpu
i finally figured out why i could not have low latency on my inputs while not having
unwanted audio glitches, cracks, clips

it's the usb interface. using the edirol ua-25 audio interface which is usb.. it is not essential to use this AI for real time software based effects, and inputs. i like to listen to my own voice through the microphone as close to real time as possible

switching from the edirol sound driver to the infamous asio4all, i could actually play my extensive live7 sets with close to real time latency (13ms). no more clips, no more glitches, no more unwanted cracks for having close to real time sound

but there are negative issues with using the on board audio driver:
-no more 24-bit/96kHz sound
-no more multiple inputs/outputs
-no more xlr inputs
-no more opticalness

does anyone have a better solution to these issues? would a firewire interface give me the same results as asio4all ?

other then that i have a very new release which i got some nice comments on
please check it out if you got the time
it's got a psychedelic lofi/grainy feeling
it sort of plays peekaboo with you.. :p

Something is definitely wrong unless that Edirol or your mobo is only USB 1. Start by unplugging every USB device other than KB and mouse and see if this frees up bandwidth on the bus.
Does the Edirol not come with an ASIO or WDM driver? Or is that latency with the ASIO driver?

it's the latency with the ASIO driver edirol provides

i checked the device manager for my usb controllers.. they are listed with "enhanced" from what i read that means i have 2.0

i've played many shows with just the AI and midi keyboard.. and i still get latency issues

Did you try asio4all with the edirol?

I used asio4all with a lexicon omega and it worked great. It should be able to recognize the edirol. maybe.

Why would you wanna emulate Asio when yu have asio.It doesnt make sense. If you have USB2.0 the only advantage you have with firewire would be it is more stable (or so they say). Did you update your driver, it might be a known bug

Like many USB sound cards, the UA-25 is USB1.0/1.1. Unless an audio interface says USB 2.0 in its name, it is probably 1.0/1.1.

I knew it! I had this SAME problem with a Tascam 428. I didn't realize anybody in their right mind would make a USB 1 audio interface, but they did! I think it's time for you to pass it on to some unsuspecting schmuck like I did.

haha, or just use firewire, that works pretty well...

No, both of these devices are USB only. So you have a new interface in your future, imho. I can't believe any company would even claim to make 24/96 work on a USB speed. They act like they don't know what people use these devices for- like it's still 1990 and we have to pretend that we are just trying to make something work. The kind of work methods we use have been widespread and common for 10 years, the current state of interface quality is inexcusable.

should i wait until firewire 8 is implemented in audio interfaces? will this be a while?

should i get the pcmia card that adapts firewire? i like windows and do not want a mac

thanks for all the great content
i had no idea my interface was usb1 !!!
