this looks like it is for games, however a haptic controller with feedback would be ideal for gestural control. i don't actually believe that the wii or lemur will work as a virtual instrument: without feedback, or an object, one is really relying on proprioception alone for physical memory. as an instrumentalist, i suspect that this is insufficient.
i have no idea of this controller offers enough haptic feedback. but some things seem like they may be approachable with this, such as a violin/cello bow or possibly plucking at a virtual string?

Your absolutely right about things like wiimote offering useful feedback. Much of the actual experience of playing instruments is in the touch. You learn to connect the correct feeling with the correct sound. This is a great start, and I've read about it before. Just hearing and feeling no limit like you would with the wiimote is completely inadequate. At the very least, you could make a really interesting XYZ controller with this that would be extremely acurate and provide some feedback.
