Laptop battling for Video People

So we have some talented, active people helping to promote Dallas' instance of the Laptop Battle. Trent, AKA Plutonium Jukebox, has worked out a spot in the annual Dallas Video Festival on Friday the 11th.
There's a $100 prize and a few smaller prizes for the runner-up.
I'll be filling the first spot. We get 2 minutes of non-judged time to play a small taste of our sound and warm the audience up to what we do. This is probably pretty important since a large portion of the crowd will be video fest attendees who saw "Laptop Deathmatch" on the schedule and decided to take a break from watching videos.
Then we come back and each get around 10 minutes to play our judged piece. The judging will be a timed metering of the crowd's applause.
I'm looking forward to this simply because it's another chance to play my music for completely uninitiated strangers.
I might not have the fast uber destruction beets that win over the judges at our regular monthly deathmatch, but I do have some of the most accessible music in our little crew. Since I'm striving to make music for semi-commercial work like animation and video, I'm usually going for music that can be enjoyed by my peers and by people who never listen to EM.
So, I'm in the first slot. That's tough from a nervous jitters perspective, but cool in that I'll have the crowd at their freshest. I'm afraid that too much of the drill n bass type hard EM will wear out (or worse, thin out) the crowd.

Woo, I'd love to hit up a laptop battle sometime. I've heard, but never seen one.
Kidko, you think there'll be any laptop battles in the spring? I'm back in Texas then  . . . I'd love to try it out...I've only done production tracks, never any live stuff and I think it'd do me some good to get out there and perform in front of a crowd.

Hell yeah!
It seems like it's picked up enough speed at this point that the battles will continue as long as there's a venue willing to host it. We can fill a small bar on a Sunday night... I'd say that's pretty good.
