Mixit 69 - a 'very special' Mixit -- has entered the Composition phase -- the samples are available for download and it's time to make some noise...
If you're new to Mixits, here's how it works:
Users upload samples for a set period, but the samples aren't available for download until after the submission deadline... then, the samples are released and the Mixit is on -- download the samples, and start composing.
Submissions have a deadline, and once the deadline is reached, the submissions are made available for everyone to download, hear, comment on, etc.
This is an 'extended' Mixit, and will run until Midnight CST, 11/04/2008.
We're hoping the extra time will get more people involved (normally, it's one month from beginning to end of each Mixit)

funny story. working with id3 application i downloaded all the test tones from the internet i could find (like free as in nigerian delta). i opened it, thinking it was the mixit somehow "downloaded by itself!" ... no recognizable smapples, no em411 names. needless to say i've not had my coffee. I love the long drone and metal. that's great.
mixit is strange. I have this insane compelling compulsion to dump loads of samples into it any chance i can. why? its public domain. PD. no creative or tm or ... its a (now pretty large) sample pool free of all responsibilities.

really nice samples (almost a bit too much to choose from)
love the kitchen sample, tunalicker, that's a looooot of single-hits to work with 
there are even some 'complete' tracks in there lol
anyways, i've got the feeling this is gonna be fun, let's hope lots of folks participate
