--> hello all

i never normally do this sort of thing (post something personal), but i am feeling a bit scared about a recent airplane trip and some possible hearing loss

long story short, flew back to la from alaska sunday night (went w/ lady friend, best trip ever, hiking, kayaking, zip lines, bars, really just a perfect trip), had a bit of a cold but loaded up on the decongestants and used ear planes (special ear plugs), thought i would be ok as i wasn’t super sick, well on landing i had the intense ear pain many people have, figured i would be fine, but woke up monday and knew i wasn’t right

just got back from an ent and i have 2 ear infections w/ fluid behind my left ear, cant hear at all really right now, on antibiotics for the infection and home sick w/ the cold

i wouldn’t really be worried except i have hurt my ears (or right ear) before w/ a scuba diving trip where i came up to quick, lost some highs in the right ear, permanent ringing, so i know there is a possibility i did more damage, although the ent said there is a 90-95% chance i am fine, we wont know until the fluid subsides and i take a hearing test

just tough you know, i am so careful w/ my ears, especially after the first accident, and i really did everything right w/ flying, just bad luck, last time i was so bummed for like 6 month's and i still had the damage, this time i want to project some really positive thoughts out there so as to not waste any time worrying, what’s done is done, i think I’ll be ok and learned a huge lesson, do not fly sick at all, even w/ a little cold

writing has been going so well lately, tough to take a break, and very scary, so yea, that is my story, any well wishes are welcome, ty for reading

when i flew to and from heidelberg this summer i had the same pain and the same fluid you're mentioning in my left ear. it took a couple of days when i got there to recover and almost a week when i got back here. i wasn't sick at all, just very tired. so yeah, the plane thing is probably just temporary.

at least there were no snakes on your plane

yea, that is what he said, i just dont know what the difference between the scuba accident and this one is? you know, the scuba did damage, but will this one?

he said i should be ok, so i am going w/ that, haha

but i cant hear shit right now, i feel so much for people with hearing loss

ty for writing

no snakes that i am aware of

well, maybe there was and you fell asleep and it bit you giving you ear infection

could be worse if it had bitten you somewhere lower

either way, i think you should sue

i just want to my hearing to be ok

i think your chakras are clogged up

look poor buddy, i goodheartedly found you this non-toxic treatment which surely helps way better than putting crazy pills inside your body. also make sure your acid-base metabolism is balanced. drink a lot of water.

Have your partner lie down on his or her back. Sit comfortably up at the top of your partner’s head facing down the body toward the feet.

Grab on to each earlobe with the thumb and forefinger of each hand (thumbs in front, fingers behind). Gently rub the earlobe between your fingers, kind of smooshing it around, creating some warmth between your fingers. Gradually work your way around the edge of the whole ear, massaging with your fingers and thumbs in the same fashion.

Now come back down and grab the earlobes again. This time gently but firmly pull them down toward your partner’s shoulders. (Trust me, it feels good.) Hold for five seconds, then release. Next, grab on to the middle section of the ear’s edge and pull down toward the floor. Hold for five seconds, release. Grab on to the top portion of the ear and pull up, toward the top of your partner’s head. Hold for five seconds, release.

If you like, at this point, repeat the whole ear massage sequence from the beginning. Then, make your hands into fists with the first and middle fingers extended (like scissors). Catch each ear in between your extended fingers. Your forefingers should be on the sides closest to your partner’s face and your middle fingers on the opposite side of the ear (toward the back of his or her head).

Now clamp down with these two fingers, gently pressing them together like you’re trying to cut your partner’s ears off. The cartilage around the ear will move, and that’s okay. There is muscle tissue all around this area that will be affected by this technique. With your fingers clamped down, move the whole ear around in small, slow circles. This really feels wonderful. Do five to seven circles, then release.

ariel and i have a new place. 2 dogs. 3 cats. we can modular loudly. hammock. you should come over for fun and dinner some time!

thanks scott, as soon as i am less sick, sounds like a plan, i'll hit you up down the line

jesus, horrid. Just keep reminding yourself - 90 - 95% you are fine. You are fine. You are fine. Chances are you are. Get well soon, man. So sorry to hear about this injury.

I once ended up spending a week in Singapore almost completely deaf from flying with fluid in my ears. It turned out fine.

Don't let your bad scuba experience scare you too much. The pressure changes ears deal with in scuba are much, much worse than air travel. Lots of scuba divers end up with hearing loss or tinnitus, but not many air travelers do.

from LA to AK. enough to confuse a person's system, no?
hope its better soon...
