--> So I'm going in to Legacy Emmanuel hospital today for a rather intensive group of surgeries that will have me out of commission for a few weeks.

Right in the middle of the 'epic Mixit' -- I am not sure how long it will be before I can operate my music software and such (but the influence of the heavy drugs could be interesting)

Here's what they're doing:
Septoplasty: opening up my nasal cavities and scraping cartilage that's blocking the airway - I have 25% capacity in my right nostril right now. Nose was broken pretty badly when I was young.
Tonsillectomy: Yeah, 37 years old and I'm getting my tonsils out -- this is the most painful part of everything they're doing.
It's part of what's called a "UPPP" - uvulopalatopharyngoplasty - they're removing my uvula (the dangly bit in the back of your throat) and removing some tissue around it to further open my airways, and...
Genioglossus Advancement: Taking a small bit of the front of my chin bone and cutting it out and pulling it a few millimeters outward and securing it with titanium screws. This will pull my tongue forward a little bit from the back of my throat

So.. I go in this morning, and will be coming home tomorrow afternoon, surrounded by ice packs and not being able to eat solid foods for at least a week or more.
Fun stuff! If I manage to make any painkiller influenced tracks during my recovery, I'll post them here...

is this elective surgery so you can bite through tin cans?

Ice cream!

Just think about all the ice cream you'll be able to eat

i got my tonsils out!

long time ago though.
ive managed to get by without them, so far.

GOOD LUCK

i had a bit of my chin bone surgically removed and attached to Lowlifi's face.

good luck! Mmm, tin cans.

Have you got a massive tongue like Jamie 'fat tongue cunt' Oliver so you cant breath too easily or are you like a bulldog that has trouble breathing properly?

holy crap. sounds intense. legacy emmanuel is a good hospital. i went there for a CT scan. as far as hospitals go they seem to have it together.

i wish you speedy recovery. just think how great it will be to be able to breathe better once you're all healed up!

uhh, i did an 'increase nasal cavities' operation looong time ago too. though not such a complex one, from what this sounds:S
what i remember best is when they took out those wadding thingies that were stuck up my nostrils for a week, but im not gonna get into details here:S
the operation itself was quite trippy, i was on some pretty heavy (but not quite full-unconscious-y) stuff.
good luck!

good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery!
"they're removing my uvula"

I had to read that twice.

Seriously though, I wish you a very quick, painless, music-filled recovery.

Good luck, mang.

I had a septoplasty back in 05 for the same reason, got my nose broken when i was young. Breathing is much better now but i also suffered with bad sinus pain that was getting worse which is the main reason i wanted the op, thought it would got better but it's gotten worse since. I had a CT scan recently and they found thickening of the lining of my nose which is consistent with chronic sinusitis so i'm seeing a consultant on the 10th so may be back in for an op soon myself. I'm trying antihistamines and a nasal spray in the meantime to alleviate the syptoms and they seem to be working! Which amazing considering i've had this for three years. Anyway the septoplasty didn't cause me any pain, it was over in about 15 minutes iirc but they kept me in for the weekend. They cortorized my nostrils as well so my nose felt tight for a while.. You'll prolly be on nasal drops and painkillers for a couple of weeks and there will be some scabbing round the nose for a few days.

Anyway good luck with the op and i wish you a speedy recovery. If you can't make music write down all your ideas until you can. And remember: DS-10 is your friend! ;)

good luck!! i wish you a quick and painless recovery

i couldn't live without my uvula.

godspeed.

well at least you won't get hit with sleep apnea.

good luck dood. this mixit is dedicated to your recovery and painkiller use.
